This beautiful place holds memories for me with someone who was very dear to me. The owners were the first to take a stand in the city against the atrocities occurring in Ukraine. As a final gesture before they close their doors, they donated sales of all their restaurant memorabilia to aid Ukraine and server all you can eat food with final shots from their various infused vodkas we all knew and loved. Wishing them the best in their next chapter.

Located smack dab in one of the busiest parts of downtown I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I first tried the food here. I still, to this day, don't know what I had to eat except that it looked like a bit of chicken and rice with vegetables and spices. But it was glorious! Would eat here again! Thank you to the restaurant for being apart of the effort to reduce food waste with Too Good To Go.

We had reservations. We came in and there was no hostess, waited 6-7 min. We went to the bar and there was no bartender. We waited another 5-6 minutes.. a waiter FINALLY saw us and asked if we needed help. Said we had a reservation, he looked suprised, and sat us at a small table. He brushed the crumbs onto the floor, and away he went. We sat, and sat, and sat, for 18 minutes. No one came by and said hello, no one got our drink or food order, nothing. We were just ignored. Meanwhile, others were being sat and tended to. We live far, 30 min away, and this was for our anniversary dinner. We left, and had to scurry to find another place within walking distance that had open seats where we could dine. We were beyond disappointed, as we were looking forward to the cuisine and a special night. The atmosphere was super quaint, loved it, but zero stars on the service. Awful for a busy Friday night. Will not be back.

Horrible service, everything took forever was served raw chicken Kiev and then our waiter tried to assure us it was cooked through, asked the manager when he walked by and he was furious the kitchen would serve something so raw. Ordered a Moscow mule and didn't get it for 45 minutes when it arrived the ice was melted and it had obviously been sitting on the bar top ready for 30 minutes. The cherry on top was waiting nearly an hour after we ate and then having to flag down another waiter to find our waiter and get our check.

We made a reservation for our anniversary. We stood at the empty hostess stand for 6-7 minutes, with no one greeting us. We took a few steps forward towards the empty bar, again waiting another 6minutes. Nothing. Finally, a waiter passing by asked if we had been helped. When I told him we had a reservation, he looked suprised, and sat us at a table for two, brushing the crumbs on the floor. He swiftly left. And we sat. And sat. No one came by. No one got our drink order or food order, no one said ‘I'll be right over', NO ONE CAME!! For 18 minutes. We sat there!! Zero service. And it was SUPER loud. We were so disappointed, and were really anxious to try the food. We live 35 minutes away and never come downtown, and will most likely never be back. Awful. We had to quickly find another place to eat which wasn't easy on a Fri night. Zero stars.

We have been going to The Russian House for several years. This visit marked a significant change in the quality of the food. Additionally, The Russian House no longer has a liquor license so we were not able to order drinks with our meal. We will not be returning in the foreseeable future.

There was no notification this was only a buffet until we arrived. The foods we had hoped for from the menu were not on buffett. The price for the buffett was really expensive compared to cost of their regular menu.

Went for Mother's Day. There was nothing indicating there was a special buffet for Mother's Day on the website. The food was set out at room temperature for hours. There is no way a food inspector wouldn't have shut them down. For me, my wife and daughter is was $200. My daughter is 4 and barely eats anything. Such a waste of money.

The décor is all Soviet through and through. It's like walking into your grandma's apartment in Russia, where she still has most of the stuff preserved from when she was young. As far as food goes, I was surprised to find a Russian restaurant in Austin, especially with such an extensive menu. I had elk sausage, which I've never seen at any Russian restaurant before, and it was great. We also had some blini with house salted salmon and vareniki. Generally, the food was good, but blini were the worst I've seen. They really need to learn to make good blini, especially since they're also catering to customers who want to have caviar in a Russian restaurant. For dessert, we had kartoshka, which was pretty frozen and dense - not good. Out of all the dinners we had in Austin, we ended up with the highest bill here. Despite the inconsistent food and the price, I would still recommend it as the best Russian restaurant in Austin because AFAIK it's the only one.

We had visited a few years ago and the food was excellent. This visit the food had no flavor, felt like it had been heated up after sitting all day. Our waiter was wonderful but very sad to say the food was terrible. Not what it was in the past. I hope it will get better, fun place to enjoy dinner.

This place is so cute and comforting to be in. Theme bars are awesome! I have been a few times in the past and recently went during sxsw. Love the infused vodka. Try a White Russian with coffee infused vodka. The bartender is so nice and so was the other gentleman behind the bar during a sxsw show. They had a wonderful line up, all international bands. I will definitely be back to try the food.

This was our first time ever eating out at a Russian restraunt. This place was great. It was four of us and we had almost every appetizer that they had. We all shared and took nibbles out of every dish! Our server at hand was great and gave her expertise on everything. We did have a Russian speaking member in our group. so when the server and her were talking to order the rest of us were lost. But man when she brought out our food it was great. Shout out to our server Lera! We will definetly be back!

The complimentary vodka shots with the bread and sauerkraut is always a nice touch. We were a party of 9 and Igor was a great server. So happy the restaurant dropped "Russian" from its name in solidarity with the people of the Ukraine. This was my third visit to the House and I'll certainly be back.
