If I could give 0 stars, I would. All I can figure is people don't know what good food is, if this is what they call Mexican food they are sadly mistaken, the only way this could possibly be Mexican related food is because they collected it from the digestive system of a Mexican. We even had our server tell us that she does not & would not eat their food, that alone speaks volumes.

Listen Friends!! Do yourself a favor and stop here! I had the Brisket Tacos and they were fabulous!! Atmosphere is amazing.. food was excellent and the service was phenomenal! Wendy was our waitress .. will definitely ask for her again ! I will be driving from Houston JUST to eat here..

I hosted a UTMB Retiree Reunion at Cafe Del Rio on 1/20/24. I was so impressed with the GM Jeff and his staff. Due to circumstances beyond his control he was short staffed. We had 47show up and when Jeff explained to me about the situation, I just knew we would be forever getting our food, etc. I told him I understood and it would be ok.I was shocked at how smoothly the event went. Jeff jumped in there,waited on tables, served food and drinks and was amazing. His staff were so accommodating to whatever we needed. The event went off without a hitch at all. We got our food in a timely manner and everyone was pleased. Out of 47 people I did not hear one person who was displeased with any thing.Jeff you were amazing. You kept a kind attitude and never got flustered with all the 47 of us mingling around creating our own chaos.If anyone is looking for a place to host a special event, I highly recommendCafe Del Rio. Ask for Jeff he will get the job done and treat you right.Kudos to you Jeff for a job well done!

This is a nice place to go if you like Mexican food. They are able to accommodate large groups. Friendly staff and manager.Parking: The parking lot is small. Overflow parking is in the lot of the restaurant that is closed down next door.
We had our UTMB CMC reunion there today and almost 50 people showed up! The GM Jeff was short staffed so he managed our group himself. Everything ran smoothly and he was fantastic!! He deserves a raise!
Service is good staff are welcoming food is not fresh taste old n canned Rice taste n look weird beans taste like can All food is old n tasteless Didn’t feel good about eating the food stomach upset later ?

Excellent food and excellent service despite being short staffed! Took a minute to be seated but after the wait everything else was great. Our server, Wendy, was very friendly, fast and professional.Since the beginning of the pandemic my husband and I have only dined inside a restaurant twice. The first place was absolutely horrible, the food was bad and servers were in your face plus unfriendly. Needless to say it was very refreshing to sit inside of a restaurant, not worrying about people being to close (they space well), really fresh and tasty food plus excellent service from Wendy =Two happy customers ?*their top shelf margarita on the rocks is one of the best I've ever had also ?
