I've always heard how good Ralph and Kacoos were and I've wanted to try them for over 20 years, probably more! But, I lived in Houston and it was on the other side of town and never went out of my way to make that drive. Then they opened one in Galveston, but never made that either. Finally got to try this one in Beaumont where the old Steakhouse was. Waking in we were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted a table or booth. We usually always go for the booth, so booth it was! Our server came to the table and was very friendly and outgoing. She got our drink orders and came right back. She then asked about appetizers. So we ordered the Firecracker Shrimp and also the Swamp Bites (fried Alligator nuggets) for our 8 year old. We also tried an order of two each of their four different kinds of grilled oysters. Two were garlic butter and Parmesan, two were topped with a crabmeat mixture, two were oysters Rockefeller, and two were topped with cheese and jalapenos! They were decent with my favorite being the jalapeno cheese! For our dinners our 8 year old had fried shrimp and fries off of the kids menu. My wife decided on the shrimp and grits, I ordered the Delta combo of catfish fillets and oysters. The Firecracker Shrimp were really good, but not a lot of them. Our 8 year old ate the entire appetizer of fried alligator!!! We had to get a side of ranch to dip it in because he didn't care for the Hollandaise sauce that came with it. My wife's Shrimp and grits were just ok, she was a little disappointed that it looked like they just put ettouffee over grits with shrimp! I tasted it and I didn't really care for it because when you've had great Shrimp and Grits you compare everything else to that. My Delta combo had two catfish fillets and 6 oysters with fries, plus two hush puppies. Now in most places you go that have seafood they offer combo platters of try items of your choice at a set price. Here they charge you for the cost of a platter of one item and then add six dollars and change to that. So somewhere else you might pay $22-23 Dollars for a combo platter. Here at R and K's your going to pay around $26-27 dollars for a combo platter that didn't have as much as other places. My catfish was not fresh and was tough around the edges, the oysters were a little overcooked. I also love Tarter Sauce with my seafood. I didn't care for theirs at all. It just didn't have much of a taste to it. So when you're used to eating good seafood when you've grown up around it all your life and you know what it's supposed to be like, you're going to be a little disappointed with seafood here. Now I think of all those years wanting to try R and K's only to find out it wasn't quite what you expected.I didn't mind driving two hours for great seafood. And there are quite a few really Good places two hours from me.

Ralph and Kacoo's has been one of our spots to eat char grilled oysters for several years. The last visits have been poor and absolutely terrible. After the first failed visit, we decided to give them a second try. Big mistake! I typically won't write a review if the food was poor but this place needs to turn it around or they will make someone sick. The oysters that were served to us today were not fresh and it was obvious after the first bite. They didn't even look correct, as they were covered with cheese that we didn't order and it had something brown rising to the top. Condiments weren't fresh either and tasted like they had been sitting under a lamp for hours. They refunded our money for the oysters however the remaining meal was barely edible. That will be our last attempt! No complaints with the server and she was tipped accordingly.

Very hit and miss. Not bad but nothing stood out as good and several things were just meh. I suggest skipping this place.

I would avoid this place. The service and professionalism are greatly lacking. My girlfriend and myself visited this restaurant early Friday evening, note the restaurant was not busy at the time. We choose to seat at the bar, which we proceeded to once we entered. The bar was completely empty of customers and there was no employe at the bar. We chose to set down and wait. While we were waiting there were multiple employees who walked past us. They stared at us but said nothing as they went to the back of the restaurant. Note there was also a manager who also observed us but made no efforts to provide service. After 20 minutes a gentleman came behind the bar and after a few minutes he deiced to approach us. He didn't apologize for the wait time he just rudely asked do you you'll want something to drink. We stated we would, but we would also like a menu. His response was " you want a food menu." We responded yes at which point he just shook his head as if he was annoyed by our request. At this point we chose to leave establishment. This was a very disappointing experience; one could only wonder if we received this treatment because my girlfriend and I are an interracial couple.

The oysters were good. Shrimp etouffee was good for the price. And the service was excellent. The only problem was that the drinks such as Dr. Pepper and water had a weird taste. They took the soda off of the ticket.

The service was fine, great even, but the food was not very cajun. The gumbo broth was thick like gravy, boudin balls didn't taste like boudin, and the hushpuppies were..creamy? Almost chewy. Great service, but they need to consider where they are and the food they serve.

So impressed! Everybody we have met that works here is so friendly and down to earth genuinely friendly. Love coming here for date night! My wife really likes the Satin pie.

I got the Ralph's Big Belly for $30. And I should have kept trying ☎️ Rocking Crab. The Big Belly had no flavor really, and the fries had no season. Rocking Crab for a lower price have more and food is packed with flavor. On another ?, the one lady?‍♀️ at the counter even though she had a million things to do, taking phone orders, serving customers, and running to get to go oders. She was so tired BUT had the best attitude. Hell, I wanted to help out just because her attitude made me feel good. Kindness goes along way.

One of my favorite places to eat!! The crawfish is freaking awesome, the staff so friendly.. Try the jalapeño Margaritas or 50 Shades.

Seafood platter was worth it, but who serves crab cakes without remoulade? The stuffed shrimp needed it, too. The hush puppies were bland and super thick and gummy. We popped out the rolly ball of internal cornmeal and just ate the crunchy exterior. The fries were well seasoned, but sadly they were the best part of the platter. The tartar sauce was filled with celery strings, a bit of onion and not enough “sauce” to be spreadable or dippable. But hey, there was way plenty food on the plate for two meals or two people. Service was great and spot-on perfect. Zero hesitation in getting me ingredients to make the tartar sauce palatable. Two thumbs up for her.

Not as good as Lufkin or Bosser City I’d rate this average The others Super On most of the menu. I’d say as good as most of the best Galveston area seafood
