Love the food, it has a very home-style taste to it. Try the chicken quesadilla, it's awesome; it has actual chicken fajitas, not chicken breast, with roasted bell pepper and onions, all that and a side of rice, beans, and guacamole. Pancakes and eggs and other American food are good too, but the Mexican food is where it's at in this restaurant.There seems to be another restaurant down the road with the same name and while the food is just as good, the ambiance is not the same. I have to assume they are a family owned franchise.They also have live music, I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. It's a mix of regional and classic Mexican music by a lovely and vivacious singer called Lluvia. This sets an awesome ambience for eating with the family.

Ordered 2 fajita tacos at the Run down one by jack in the box. Tasted like rotten meat! Maybe it was close to a rotten meat in fridge or something. I had my husband try it because he said it was just me and he spit it out too! Called and the manager said we were lying, to bring it in and if it didn’t LOOK rotten he wasn’t going to do anything about it and then He Hung Up On Me! It didn’t look rotten! It tasted rotten! I’ve been going there for 12 years now. 3-5 times a week! They just lost my business! No wonder brother refuses to go there! ????.I do recommend them for breakfast and also order the quesadilla Durango.

This is not a place you would go to for its atmosphere. However, it more than excels for its food and service. Every dish I have tried is delicious. And they give you a little bowl of fideo as an appetizer and dessert at the end of your meal.The waitresses are all friendly and provide good service. This is one of my regular places to visit when I go to Brownsville.

I'm not really sure how the food is nor of the atmosphere. I walked in and 2 people said hi, which was awesome, but I got tired of standing there waiting for someone to either seat me or tell me to have a seat. I wouldn't be saying anything if they were busy. It was just disappointing. Now I've got to go on down the road and find something else.Boo
I still don't understand why the sauce has to be so freaking spicy, can't even taste the food when the sauce is extra spicy.

My 2nd time back I returned again but decided on breakfast. And it was quite exceptional, very good. I had the Nopal breakfast plate, and my sister had a Ham and gegg with cheese Taco. Pretty decent portion and was fresh. The flour tortilla didn't look reheated, although my plate came with corn tortillas. I might just say very good corn tortillas.Tho, as usual, very busy, our waitress was somewhat attentive and maybe even very overwhelmed for her. Idk I mean, I give props to waiter/waitresses, but it isn't an easy job in any restaurant. You just have to keep mire on your toes, and this job isn't for the faint. But yet have patients with them. Anywhere you go, not just here. But less if a huddle would be great and not look bad on the eye of the customer.1st time was pretty good, but I think it really depends on the time you go because when it's rush hour, your food tends to be out fresh and hot vs. When you're not in a rush hour, food definitely tastes different as if it was sitting there. Anyways, I've been here before, and this time, it was good, but as far as my service was a bit slow, she didn't ck frequently to see if I need refill or other items. And had to flag her down about 3 times, she was very nice but knowing the fact you have a full house be more alert with your tables. (Waitresses huddle too much in front and get in talk mode and forget the tables) The enchiladas swisas I ordered were good yet a bit too Tangy but do-able it was good portion and not overly portioned with beans and rice it was ok. The milanesa was very good, not over battered and soft, not tough. Now the fideo Well, that was a bit too much, cominos. You can literally taste it and kill the taste of the fideo. You need to taste before serving yall it was a soup of spices rather than a fideo soup.

My husband and I just walked out of there . We waited a while until some one whos not a waitres ask us what we wanted to drink . She told us there was only 2 waiters and it would take a while . We ask her if we can wait and decide and she told us with a big attitude, " pues ya ven se van a tardar mas ." !! Like thatShe said that WITH LOTS OF HUEVOS . We just hot up and left telling her off of course she didn't hear what we told her . You see WHO in their right mind would go around and say something like that to any customer . NO MORE EMILIA'S THEY @#$& . We just waited there nooooobody came to greed us .
