Was visiting Brownsville and asked the locals where I can get a good traditional Mexican breakfast. More than once, I heard, "go to Ricardo's". I am so glad I did. The breakfast was like eating at my grandma's or Mom's house! It was legit Mexican that tasted like it was a home cooked meal! I took some friends there to eat and we each got the chilaquiles! If I lived in town, this would definitely be a favorite spot for me.

Got the milanesa de res plate. The meat was bland, had no flavor at all and was kind of oily and soggy and it looked a bit undercooked. The plate came with a bowl of fideo and it had a good taste but they're were pieces of small bones inside the soup. The salsa that they brought us was either previously used by another customer and they just refilled it or they unknowingly dropped a piece of potato and 4 small pieces of what looked like chewed up meat inside it. Overall a bad first experience at this place, will not recommend.

Catering:I hired them to cater for my wedding under my coordinators guidance. For anyone getting married, look to a different catering company. There were many issues that I wasn’t aware of the day of the wedding. Their workers were eating our food while working, picked up plates that weren’t eaten, cold food, bad attitudes, to name a few. I was told these things after by the coordinator. When all the issues were brought to the owner, Ricardo, we were met with hostility, and sarcasm. To add insult to the wound, his workers denied it all. Lastly, the coordinator asked that all the food that was left over be put in to go plates and left at the venue. Only half of the food was left. The owner tried making it right by giving a refund but it wasn’t without a fight of who was right and who was wrong and how much was the “right amount”. I let him make it right but the sour taste remains due to his deflective attitude about it all. Customer service - very poor. He clearly does not understand how big of an undertaking a wedding is and how important the day is to the people involved. Once again, look for a different company to cater for your very important event.

Stole money from us, their catering staff were eating our food that WE PAYED FOR for our wedding! And the owner was being very difficult not listening to us when we physically caught them eating our food at the venue. Do not book them for your events, they will just cheat you from your money and the service was very bad and they were rude to my guests. As well ask picking up fresh plates.

I love it here. The food is great and on top of it great customer services. Adriana Pena is an awesome waitress. Always, greets with a smile and is attentive. She definitely makes it very welcoming and always has us coming back. Thank you Mrs. Pena for always being welcoming.

This restaurant is not very large with maybe 8 -10 tables, but as always it was a typical-Ricardo’s with excellent food.We ordered the Daily lunch special of ranchero steak and pollo en mole. The salad and great flavour are the best Mexican north of of the Rio Grande! The prices were $10-11. The manager explained they had opened new establishment on Frontage Rd.,/Highway 77 in Harlingen recently.
