In town visiting TAMU, this was my son’s choice and we were not disappointed. Our party got burnt ends, 2 brisket sandwiches, Mac and cheese, corn on the cob, loaded mashed potatoes and peach cobbler. Everything was delicious. Young man at register was very nice. Great visit!

We went in during the lunch hour it wasn't very busy at all. The guys at the counter were on point and polite. The beans at the self serve were delicious. We had the aggie special no problems with the meat but one bite where the meat and bark was to hard to bite into needed to be cut. Would recommend don't arrive late at night.

One day I was worried because it was very salty, but it wasn't salty and was very delicious. We had half a pound of beef brisket & pork rib each + coleslaw, baked potato, and corn on the cob on the side, so the two of us were very full. I was most satisfied with the brisket I bought at Calchon.

Just finished and getting ready to leave. Atmosphere is awesome, service was average and the food is lacking. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich and got more FAT than beef. The sauce was like trying to eat sweetened vinegar. After paying and as we were preparing to leave, I was then and only then asked if I wanted another beer. Not trying to be over critical but the place looks great from the road but the food and service simply didn't live up to the outside look. We won't return? Dennis Johnson

The food was not good. Barbecue sauce was very runny even the sauce labeled thick. The barbecue sauce also has a very strange flavor. Brisket was dry and very fatty. Sausage was decent. Noodles for Mac and cheese was over cooked. Do not recommend.

OMG! Came here for a galentine’s and the even though place was mostly empty, everything was amazingly fresh. Had the sliced brisket sandwich with a brioche bun, chips, and a drink (Aggie special) and some jalapeño smoked sausage. MY GOD. Hands down the best BBQ I’ve had in years! The ONLY feedback I have is that they need a sweet and spicy version of their thinker sweet sauce! So so good! And y’all, the blackberry cobbler??? It was so hot and delicious! A must have.On the note of atmosphere, the place is HUGE with an outdoor patio complete with seating and cornhole/games!

This place sure looks the part. It is a nice restaurant. Central Texas style buffet line where they serve the meat from their hot plate. Now for the food. I should have known not to go kind of late in the day but they were open and I figured it was so popular they'd have good food. That's where I was wrong. I'll start with the good. The jalapeno sausage was pretty good, kinda dry but had a good flavor. The light bread they served was pretty good. It was just plain old sliced bread but it was fresh and good. They have beans on the self-serve bar along with onion, pickles and jalapenos. All you want. The beans were thin, but they had a bean flavor. They were ok. Coleslaw was not bad either. Kinda sweet and sour type. Two types of BBQ sauce were also on the bar. One was vinegar based, runny with a pretty good flavor. The other was thicker with a sweeter flavor, pretty good also.It was downhill from there.Mac and cheese with brisket and jalapenos. It was tasteless. Kraft mac and cheese would have been better.14$ Ribs were very dry. Kinda like they were deep fried after smoking. They had a strange flavor. The real reason to go to a BBQ joint is the brisket. I had a slice of moist. There was plenty of fat on there and some good looking bark. I was able to cut the first bite with a fork, it was ok with a little flavor. Then the next bite I could not cut. I had to go get a knife to cut the rest of it. Not my kind of brisket. The moist should have melted in your mouth, this did not. It just stuck in your teeth.Because of the ribs and brisket, I have to give the food a 1 star.

All 4 meats and the sides we had were excellent on taste; however, we asked for the "lean" cut on the brisket and almost a full half of the brisket was all fat.
