I really enjoyed this place. It gives me Deep Ellum boujie, which we love boujie, yet relaxed at the same time. The vibe is a lil pretentious, but it's all good! I'm here for it! I wasn't interested at first, because she said it was a Vegan restaruant and tho I dn't have to have food with parents, when I'm in TX I want MEEEAAAAT! However, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty EVERYTHING was. What did we order, it was January, it's now March *I apologize i'm posting so late* there were some drinks to be had, so I honestly don't remember, BUT we did order a lot of different things and the 3 of us shared all of things that touched our table, except for drinks. My gf who lives in Deep Ellum said normally they had live music, but not that night, possibly due to Covid, but they had music playing I believe. It's busy, there's hustle and bustle and customers who seem to love the place. I enjoyed myself.

The food, great! The drinks, incredible! Our server last night, miserable. Bad day maybe. My group was kind and tried to lighten the mood, but our experience was painfully awkward.

Amazing vegan, black owned spot in the fast paced Deep Ellum in downtown Dallas. Food was remarkable and the bartenders provided amazing crafted cocktails. Atmosphere is so nice and dark. Perfect for a quick bite.

Great environment, the food was fantastic. I highly recommend getting the Arepas. The atmosphere is also very nice for such a busy street. I really appreciate that they play music from vinyl records

The beyond arepa is delicious!! I also had the shitake ceviche, which had a tiny amount of shitake the app was delicious but the name is deceiving. I'm also thankful for 1 of the few vegan restaurants that serves booze in Dallas. W thumbs up!

Shoals is in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, a narrow bar and restaurant with a variety of Latino dishes made vegan. I was a bit daunted at seeing so many spicy symbols on the menu, as spicy food does not agree with me, but we were able to get most dishes toned down a bit. The shiitake ceviche cannot be made mild (my boyfriend loved it, though), but the empanadas can if you ask for the sauces on the side. The Beyond arepa was also pretty good. And I loved the plantains. I threw caution to the winds and ordered a capirinha, and it was very good. I would definitely eat at Shoals again if I'm back in Dallas.

Amazing, flavorful food that is reasonably priced. Hands down the best vegan food in town! My carnivore boyfriend loves it too

Such an unexpected delicious meal! Came here to catch up with friends over lunch! I had the cubano! I have always wanted to try one so it was so great to find a vegan friendly version- completely met and exceeded all my expectations! The fried plantains were perfectly ripe! My friend had one of each empanada and said they were 10/10! I need to come back and try some arepas! My only complaint is that the tables were kinda sticky.

Are you vegan and looking for amazing Latin American food!! Look no further. This place has won our hearts. Arepas was amazing. Drinks, food and the company we found at the bar.

My wife and I absolutely fell in love with this place. We started off with the shiitake ceviche and each of the savory empanadas. The ceviche was delicious, even if it is a bit of a stretch to call this a vegan variation on this classic dish; it was more of a pico de gallo. The curried chickpea empanada was my favorite, while my wife preferred the mushroom & lentil picadillo; the beyond wonton was decent, but nothing mind blowing like the other two.I ordered the Chopped Cheez sandwich and it was delicious; however, I was jealous of my wife’s BBQ Jaca Torta. The smoked jackfruit is such a delightfully complex and flavorful element; I can’t stop thinking about it, I can’t wait to come back and order any and every dish that has it in it.We finished with a strawberry empanada for dessert; a perfect end to a delicious and filling meal.

So much potential but they missed the mark. First and foremost, they need to do something about the lack of maintenance/cleanliness of the establishment. Flies aside, most of the food was good, a couple of items were really good (empanadas), and one item (potatoes)...bad. I believe they used potatoes that were past their prime.‍

This place is fantastic. From their legit chicha morada, to SO flavorful shiitake cheviche, cannot recommend this place enough, especially for happy hour and all day Monday! Make this a regular meatless Monday spot and you won't go wrong. Our favorites were the cheviche and the impossible wonton.

First time here, Sunday night and we both loved it. Even though It's a bar, and we don't even drink! Even though the menu is all- vegan, and we're omnivores. But we'll def be back because the food was fresh, original, flavorful, delicate and truly unique (for us, anyhow). I already crave it, though I've never eaten it before. (So glad there were some leftovers in a to-go box). For me, it was like traveling someplace tropical and eating near the beach. We finally worked out that the cuisine is probably Peruvian - but vegan, see? The portions were small, like from a tasting menu, and each dish was a jewel. For example, the Jackfruit arepas so delicious with a side fried plantains, an unforgettable ceviche in a piquant marinade, the arepas. Alas I didn't take notes. Well there's more: The music, from a beautifully curated collection of vinyls, evoked the rich Muscle Shoals sound and gave the place a warm sensuous vibe. Yes, as the NAME, "Shoals Sound & Service" would imply. (The music would've been live, our server said, but y'know, COVID precautions). We sat kinda near the door so we didn't sample the atmosphere deep in the back but we were close to the bar. Try it!

Love this place!!!! So glad I was told to go here on a whim. Every worker there is so chill! They seem like family! Good vibes. The bartender was so SWEET! He made me a drink that was to my exact specifications! He made it on the spot. So good I ordered it again! Parking is a b***** had to pay like $23 for parking! But if you find one on the side even better. It's small inside but don't let that deter you. Everything they had was delicious!! The empanadas were amazing, all the flavors were immaculate! And please get the dessert! So good. I can't wait to be back it's the perfect place for a low key dinner or chill night.
