I had the fried shrimp, jambalaya, and the beignets. All the three were great and had lots of flavor. The jambalaya was my favorite. It being halal is a plus.
Eating here is an absolute pleasure. I came with friends, and we had the shrimp etouffee, seafood combo basket, fried chicken basket, and the beignets. The portions were huge and filling, and most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The shrimp etouffee was rich, well spiced, and generous with the shrimp; the fried baskets were fresh and not greasy; and the beignets were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. You can really tell that the awesome chef/owner has spent almost half of his life in New Orleans from how it tastes. It's really properly home cooked food, and was well worth the drive from UTD. I highly recommend anyone looking for proper authentic Cajun food go here.

He lived in New Orleans for almost 30 years so he knows cajun food well and you can tell by the food he makes!! He told me everything is 100% halal and even showed me where he buys the meat and everything.Def coming back and I 1000% recommend it to anyone.

The food looks like it should be good but just isn’t right- The seafood seems not the freshest. The ettouffee was bland other than what seemed to be old bay mixed in. The batter on the fried green tomatoes and hush puppies leaves much to be desired in terms of seasoning. When I picked up my order I met the owner who also gave me his real state agent card and held me hostage in a conversation about politics and the economy. This is a lovely Chinese American man trying to make food seem as authentic as possible but it just isn’t. I ate two bites and threw it away.

Today was the first time I tried Swamp Cafe, and I must say, it did not disappoint. The chicken and shrimp Po-boys were full of flavor and the portion size was substantial. So I really could have gotten sick the fried green tomatoes were raw the po boys was not edible the shrimp batter was crumbly not cooked all the way and falling off the shrimp so I waisted 30 dollars I want my money back because I had to throw it away the free powdered desert was raw also but can I get my $30 back DO NOT EAT HEREWAS EXCPECTING AUTHENTIC NEW ORLEANS STYLE BUT GOT RAW NASTY OLD FOOD ?

Great food. The owner and chef was super friendly. Service was good and the best part is its halal. I miss being able to eat Cajun food since most has pork but all the food is halal here so enjoy. I think we ordered like three plates each just to try it out and all was delicious.
