Loved the food here! Service seemed slow, but the restaurant was busy, so that's understandable.

Cafe Mayapan has some of the most delicious, authentic food I've had. I was super pleased with my order and the food was well worth it. What inspires my rating the most, though, is the cause it supports. As their website states: "When preparing menu items, we ask ourselves: what are the foods of our ancestors? What ingredients do those contain? Can any of those ingredients be sourced locally?” Cafe Mayapan is owned by La Mujer Obrera, an amazing organization dedicated to creating community and fighting for women's rights.

Some of the people in our large group found the food too spicy for them. For some it was the mole and for others the red enchiladas. I had chicken salpicon, which I think they call ensalada mayapan on the menu and it was delicious. I ordered the large size as it's only a dollar more and I brought home plenty for a second meal. Service could have been better, I had to go to the counter to get my glass of water. But overall it was good.Parking: The parking lot is on the side of the building, you can enter through the mercado. Shop at the mercado while you wait for your food to arrive after ordering.

I feel like the food I had here was the most authentic Mexican and even pre-Spanish Mexican food I've ever had! I had cactus for the first time, and it was great!

A fairly spacious, clean, quiet place. The quesadilla with a handmade tortilla that makes it have a special flavor and a delicious cheese. And its fresh waters are not far behind, made with natural products that make them more nutritious. Inside this restaurant you can find a small museum, some murals depicting the life of the Mayans. Ample parking.

One of the hidden gems of the city, you can't go wrong with really anything here. I've had the enchiladas and a couple different burritos here and they are all good. The consome is also great. The overall market here is also worth checking out, the people that run the stores here are really friendly. Definitely will return, definitely recommend

A coworker introduced me to this hidden place off of Texas street. We were attracted to the albondigas with fideo. I ordered a large size. I also ordered a potatoe flauta plate with rice and beans. The staff was welcoming and showed us around the building while we waited for our prepaid to go food. After waiting for our food, the server brought my bagged order and said , we ran out of albondigas, so we gave you what we had left and an extra side of chicken soup instead. I was dissappointed and would have preferred she ask me what I wanted to do. Maybe order something else or get my money back. I had already waited too long and had to get back to work so I accepted the replacement soup. The large cup had two turkey albondigas in it. The food was good and the place has a story. I will have to go back again to see if I can try a full order and some of their other dishes.Check it out. Their menu has some good choices. See pictures.

Good food and even better service! Will stop here again if i am in the area. Good vegetarian options. We tried Nopales fajitas which was really good and potato falutas with green sauce which was too mild for our taste, so try with red sauce if its an option but tasted good regardless. Our server was really nice and friendly. Do stop here and support them!

Top quality authentic Mexican food, not expensive. Parking lot available. Top notch service. Not much ambiance, though. No beer or wine.

The Homemade taste reminds me of Grandma & Tia's house... Nothing fancy, just good & hot.The low price reminds me of the days before COVID...
