There were two bartenders servicing the entire restaurant, and one of them were new. As expected the service was slow, but it wasn't terrible considering the circumstances. The food came out hot and fresh, and the drinks were reasonably priced during happy hour. I even ordered for to go in order to observe a larger portion of the Nigerian inspired dishes that were being served. The food was good and I have no real complaints, however, I wasn't a huge fan of the bill. The establishment has a 20% service fee that's not mentioned or advertised anywhere. I tipped almost 80% of my bill because which I felt compatible for the level of effort that the bartenders made. Had I known about the assessed gratuity ahead of time, I wouldn't of had been that generous. In response to the owner: I just checked your online menu and the "gratuity policy" is nowhere stated on there. Try again.Kid-friendliness: Had a surprisingly good menu for kids

This place brings the heat! If you can't handle hot make sure you know what you are ordering. Very cool atmosphere/music and awesome staff. Drinks were also very good!

This is my second time eating their food. I really enjoyed the goat, but I wish the stewed chicken was on the menu instead of only catered! It was so good. Overall, good food and so happy they're in Frisco near me because there aren't enough good ethnic and POC places to eat. I need spices and seasoning and Gidi's does it for me. ??‍♀️

My friends and I first-time visiting this place for lunch. We had the black bean burger and fries. The burger was okay and the fries were fresh and hot. Our server Kaylani was awesome and provided great customer service. I will return for the goat and jollof rice. Try them out!

Had dinner with a friend ,got a bill plus an extra service charge that I was not informed about, service and food was good but you don’t force customers to pay you a tip,or put a sign that says you charge service charge and i would have been absolutely fine with

If you’re like me, sometimes you just crave different flavors. Well, I found some recently in Frisco!Gidi Bar & Grill considers itself an African fusion restaurant. I just consider it delicious! They take Nigerian and West African flavors and blend them with traditional American dishes, and the result is something you truly won’t get anywhere else!Gidi serves lunch and dinner, and offers a full bar and live music on Friday and Saturday nights – some by reservation, with comfortable seating and bottle service to go with their menu of original dishes. Their starters feature some familiar items, such as: Burgers, Texas Cheese Fries, Pita and Red Pepper Hummus, and Chicken Wings, along with Suya Beef and Asun Jollof. As I mentioned, I was there for what makes Gidi different, so I started with the Gidi Suya Platter, which includes Suya Beef Chunks, Shrimp, Chicken Wings and some Fried Plantain. Suya is a spice rub used in Nigerian cooking that includes Peanut Powder, Smoked Paprika, Cayenne, and White Pepper, among other things. To my palate, the Smoked Paprika and White Pepper was evident, but it’s not like any spice rub I’ve ever had. The Suya coats the Beef, Shrimp and Chicken, and while all of it was very good, the Chicken Wings were next level! A dry, flavorful coating, while the chicken stayed tender and perfect. I can really see why they say that they have the Best Wings in Frisco - I haven’t had any better. As my Entrée, I chose Asun Jollof. Asun is Peppered Goat Meat and Jollof is a Nigerian Rice dish that is smokey and complex in flavor. The Goat, as is tradition, is cut into small chunks and cooked with Peppers and Onions, this is served with Grilled Vegetables and a large mound of Jollof Rice. This dish doesn’t have the typical minerally, gamey flavor that I expect from goat, but it’s still goat meat, so expect that it will be somewhat fatty in parts. Goat is considered perhaps the healthiest red meat, so give it a try when you’re wanting to try something new – just don’t expect steak! The flavors meld in the Asun very well, and the Grilled Vegetables are a nice balance. The Jollof is unlike any other rice dish I’ve had. It may look like Spanish Rice, but it sure doesn’t taste like it. The rice has a drier texture yet still remains tender and not at all dried-out.If not everyone in your group is feeling adventurous, there are plenty of traditional items, as well as Vegetarian, and Gluten-Free choice to choose from. Gidi Bar & Grill is truly unique dining experience and I encourage you to step out of your usual routine sometime and try a few of their unique creations.Parking: Plenty of Off-Street Parking

Gidi Bar & Grill is a nice chill spot for a friends night out or date night. It's a good place for African cuisine. I had the Asun Jollof entree and it was so good! Everything was very flavorful and seasoned to perfection. I do want to give a warning that this meal is SPICY. If you are not into a lot of spice, do not get it. The food was reasonably priced. The drinks (not pictured) are a bit pricey.

Delish! Everything seasoned to perfection. The staff was friendly and appropriate, the food was fresh and the environment was clean and relaxed.

If you're like me, sometimes you just crave different flavors. Well, Gidi Bar & Grill has plenty of unique flavors, but still many traditional ones if not everyone in your group is as adventuresome. Here you'll find a mix of Nigerian and West African flavors with some more traditional American fare.I was there for something different, so I dove right in with the Gidi Suya Platter. which includes Suya Beef Chunks, Shrimp, Chicken Wings and Fried Plantain. The suya seasoning on the meat is a dry rub made up of Peanut Powder, Smoked Paprika and White Pepper, among others I'm sure. All were very good and very unique in flavor, but the Chicken Wings were NEXT LEVEL! I see why they boast about having the best Wings in Frisco! For my Entree, I chose the Asun Jollof. Asun is chunks of Goat Meat with Peppers and Onions and Jollof is a Nigerian Rice dish that is smokey and complex in flavor. These are served along with Grilled Vegetables.Of course, Goat Meat is a little fatty, but the seasoning removed all gaminess and mineral taste that I'm accustomed to in Goat. The large portion of Jollof is delicious, with a dry texture yet not dried out. I can see why it's so popular.Friday and Saturday nights, Gidi has live entertainment - occasionally by reservation, but the full menu is always available. Next time you want something different - or if you just want some great food - I encourage you to try Gidi.

I went to this place with high expectations, seeing the reviews and prices of the dishes made me think I couldn't go wrong! I went about 12pm only person in the place, I asked what the best dish was the suggestion was a burger!! I wanted African food so I asked for soup and fufu!! I paid 27$ plus tip for a half bowl of soup literally 2 pieces of beef!!! The soup was good, very basic and ingredients seem to be fresh it was the collard green like soup! It was super spicy and I like spice but this could be turned down a little!! The place was nice, cool little chill spot!! If your like me and looking for food Definitely wouldn't be my first recommendation!! 3 stars for me based on portion and price!!

I drove from Uptown to Frisco to try this place and it was worth the drive. I've been on the look out for authentic Nigerian food in the DFW area. The fries were my favorite part of my meal. They were super seasoned. I also loved the roasted chicken.

A very nice venue for multiple occasions! Our server Brittney God bless her heart was the only person working and she was also in charge of the bar; she still was able to be attentive and do a good job. We ordered the suya platter which has wings, shrimp and suya (Ofcourse) and the mixed red stew and white rice. The mixed red stew had an amazing flavor and the white rice paired well, it was nice and spicy to my dates preference, the only complaint he has was that it was lukewarm and he prefers his food hot. I had the suya platter and everything was delicious especially the plantains; the plantains stole the show and I am now obsessed.. plantain is that girlllll. Our drinks were an Apple Moscow Mule and an Old Fashioned which the old fashioned was well made and because this is my first time trying an apple Moscow mule I am pleasantly surprised and I actually really like it

I visited Gidi Bar and Grill for an event that was held there. I was super excited by the current photos on Google. They look so scrumptious. I wanted something light and somewhat healthy, so I ordered the tilapia. (21.99) I wish I could go back in time and order something else. It was horrible. The head was still on the fish, and it's was so spicy it was inedible. I took one bite and I pushed it to the side. The server asked if was ok. I explained I was not happy with the dish and couldn't eat it. She took my plate, and didn't ask if she could replace it with something else. If you go. I hope your experience is better than mine....
