“Headed home from Fort Worth on Hwy 281, we passed right by this place. We decided to try it and weren’t disappointed. The server was super sweet and told us all about the menu. I got the Chicken Fried Steak plate (of course) and my wife got the Cheeseburger combo. We were also offered chips and salsa.Chicken Fried Steak 8/10 - the CFS was pretty damn good! The only thing I would have changed was to cook it a wee bit longer to get the crust a tad crispier. The flavor was great though and it was tender enough. The gravy was good as well. The Mashed Potatoes were homemade and whipped fine. The Fried Okra as average.Cheeseburger 9/10 - my said it was one of the best burgers she’s ever had. She got it with a homemade Jalapeño bun, with all the fixings. It came with Seasoned French Fries which were delicious. The patty was thick and the veggies were fresh. Great combo if you ask me.Chips and Salsa 5/10 - the salsa was ok, nothing spectacular. Chips were just ok as well. It was a decent appetizer.Service 9/10 - Josie was our server and was phenomenal. Very attentive and helpful. Wish there were more like her!!Atmosphere 7/10 - the restaurant was a little older, but cozy enough. Several rooms in which to sit. It was next to an older motel, with plenty of parking.Overall 8/10 - if we ever come that way again, the do breakfast all day and I’m definitely doing that too. I highly recommend the Big Cup Eatery when in Glen Rose, Texas!“
“The food there was great! However, the menus could be more specific. It doesnt say what is in the western or spanish omelate. There were exactly 10 coffee creamers, the perfect amount for stacking into little pyramids. The service was very nice, but none of the cooks were wearing hairnets. Overall very good!“
“Quaint Colonial turned into a restaurant which has some nice charm. The Voodoo pasta was good bjt was not quite what I expected l. The shrimp was cajun seasoned snd nicely done. The rest was fettuccine pasta and sauce not spicy at all so not what I consider cajun. Ahi tuna was nicely done but rice was dry and veggies didn’t have much flavor. The desserts were good. Overall probably a 4.3 or so on average. Wait staff was very nice and polite.“
“Awesome, all around…and the chicken breast??!! So good! My opinion: the live music was spectacular. They played all original stuff and I believe they are going to go places, so enjoy them while you can. Also, get the Old Fashioned. ?(Get a ride home; you’ll want more than one.)Tip well, please; they deserve it.“
“If you enjoy solid grub and solid scenic overlooks this will be your spot! Enter from the main entrance or the quicker 'back entrance' way. The back winds around and then up towards the nature store and inside area where there is a little petting zoo with goats. I really enjoyed coming here on my way home from my trail race. It's a fun stop and you can do it along with exploring Fossil Rim. You can come without checking the park though free of charge. They have smaller single snack serving plate (veggies, hummus, cheese etc) or sandwiches and full meals. The sweet tea was pretty good and they also have hot chocolate for the kiddos, coffees, fountain drinks. Even on a rainy day I saw families and people coming to enjoy the overlook in the back. They have an area to sightsee and get views of the animals from the top. A must see if you are in the Glen Rose and Fossil Rim area.“
“My daughter and I came across this place tucked away a short walk from the Oakdale Park RV and camp site. It's basically an outdoor beer joint with a food truck attached. The staff and locals are friendly and the beer is cold. Plenty of outdoor games (corn hole, jenga, frisbee golf putting) for my 7 yr old to play with on a well-maintained artificial turf area. They had trivia evening on the Thursday we visited. Not surprisingly, the truck sells simple-but-fresh burgers and brats. My 7 yr old wolfed down the adult burger no problem, but they are a good size. On site parking is v. limited, but there's plenty of road parking in the neighborhood. A small covered area is available when it rains. A nice simple place to chill with no drawbacks.Parking: Free parking on site, but very limited. Nearby road parking abundant.“
