Excellent Mexican food in downtown Groesbeck. Tony was so friendly and accommodating, taking the time to wrap up chips and salsa for us to take back to Missouri. We will be back!

Best queso around..just like Mary Chapa at Tamale Inn.. the exact recipe..Beef Nachos and Bean ( I know I always thought they were beef and bean Nachos but not at Los Pepes ) are the only things I eat, and they are amazing . Tony is an amazin server ..

The food and service is good but the reason I give a 3 star instead of a 5 star is due to high prices and adding additional fees for charro beans instead of refried beans or viseversa or double rice no beans or double beans no rice and charging for just small changes to your meal they charge for every little thing it's crazy other than that I really enjoy the food.

My family of 4 decided to eat here last minute for dinner a few weeks ago. When we arrived it didn't seem to be too busy. There were maybe 4 tables with small groups waiting for their food and several more already eating. We ordered within 10 minutes of arrival. Our order wasn't complicated, we had two kids menu items and two entrees. At the time of our order I overheard a neighboring table asking the waitress how much longer they'd be waiting for their food which should've been a red flag. We waited over an hour after ordering for our food. We arrived around 6:30 and didn't get our order until 8:00. There were multiple tables that were seated after us with larger groups who received their food before us. I asked the waitress politely several times if there was an issue and how much longer the wait would be and she told me the kitchen was really busy. I have two younger children. It's not easy keeping them entertained and patient for extended periods, especially when they're hungry. They're pretty well behaved, but the long wait was not enjoyable. At approximately 8:00 I contemplated canceling the order and just eating at home because it was my kids' bed time. I asked the waitress if we could get the food to go. She told me my order was just about finished and I politely requested they pack the food in to go containers. Within 5 minutes they had the food packed up and I paid at the front counter. I did not get a receipt, but the two entrees (around $12-$15 a piece) and the kids' meals without drinks or any sides cost over $50. I'm pretty sure I was overcharged, but at this point I just wanted to leave. We live less than 5 minutes away. When we arrived home we found several of the dishes were cold. Not lukewarm, actually cold. It was obvious that the food had been sitting for an extended period of time before we requested to get it packed to go. My daughter ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. Her dish was cold as well, and she found several pieces of raw onion on the sandwich, which was not supposed to come with onions and we made no special requests. That makes me concerned about kitchen cleanliness and cross contamination. My burrito was bone dry and did not have queso which I paid extra for. It was also very cold and did not come with any rice or beans like it was supposed to. My wife told me her dish was cold and bland as well. We've eaten here in the past and had decent experiences. This time was way different. It was a miserable dining experience and I don't believe we will eat here again. The food quality is sub par. Questionable food handling/food safety standards. The food is overpriced for what you're getting. The staff seemed untrained or unable to handle the slightest rush which is why I believe we waited so long. The only positive aspect of our visit was that the waitress was polite. We only interacted with her two or three times, but she seemed to be trying her best. Management needs to train their staff better and get the kitchen squared away if they want to retain business. Sad to say because I want to enjoy eating at this small local establishment, but I can't justify more than 2 starts. I would really give it a 1.5 but for yelp I'll round up to 2 stars.

I decided to stop in for lunch while on a trip to town from Ft. Parker State Park. First thing I noticed was all the cool art on the walls. Eclectic atmosphere was really nice. My waiter (Tony, I think) was very attentive and genuinely friendly. I had the #7 lunch that has a trio of different enchiladas. All the sauces and fillings really hit the mark for Tex-Mex. One of my favorite things is they give you a whole bottle of their salsa to refill your ramiken as you eat chips. This is a smart remedy to that old problem of having chips left but having to wait on more salsa. I look forward to treating my wife to dinner there when we are in the area again.

Los Pepe’s catered an event for my husband’s 60th birthday celebration. Eric helped set the menu for roughly 30 people. Not only was the food amazing but one of their staff members drove the order about 30 minutes to where the party was being held. That’s called front door service! Highly recommend the fajitas with all the trimmings! Many thanks again Los Pepe’s for helping to make the birthday a grand event. The next time we will definitely come into the restaurant for a yummy meal!
