This place used to be fantastic then suddenly the food coming out of the kitchen was kind of hit and miss, as was the service. Of the years I have been coming here, the desserts were always damned good and the best in the area. Tonight my husband arrived home with a piece of hummingbird cake that was saw dust dry. I'm sad I had him go out of his way and fight traffic just to get me a slice of iced saw dust. Last time we stopped for cake the slice was significantly smaller than they normally serve. I chalked it up to a new person. I guess it's time to find another place to support my chemo cravings.

Had a large group, and they were able to take care of us. Would recommend you check out their daily specials. Always enjoy eating at Abe's.
Food is usually good. This time not so good. Got sausage plate. Rice and sauce were cold. Seems like it sat out most of morning. If this was my first time here I wouldn't recommend it. I still think I'd give it another try someday.

I love this restaurant. They also have prepackaged food. The desserts are great too. My personal favorites are their catfish (fried and blackened), fried shrimp and gumbo! My favorite waiter is Max. He’s worked there for a few years and he always has a smile on his face and I noticed he recognizes regular customers and remembers their favorite orders!

This is a place where you go up to the counter, order and they bring it out to you. I had the triple salad and it was seriously impressive!
Good food. Nice people. Clean comfortable atmosphere. Prices are good too. I'd also consider buying some of the prepared food from the freezer.

Great staff and inside reminds me of home. The food lacks seasoning, it looks good but leaves a lot to be desired. Seeing they were from Lake Charles I was a bit skeptical but I know some people there that can throw down in the kitchen. Very disappointing as I finally thought I found a taste of home but unfortunately the search continues. NOLA⚜️

Abe’s is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with consistently good service and tasty food. I often pick up dinner from here, they have the best catfish, cajun potato salad, and shrimp salad. The chicken & sausage gumbo is wonderful and they have a great selection of desserts. Definitely recommend eating here.
