Roasted boar with plum sauce, sauteed carrots and broccoli. I would have loved a little more plum sauce. It was so good. And of course to begin: escargot and French onion soup. Oh, and a very fair priced Cotes de Rhone wine. All things French on our 46th anniversary. I should have taken pictures, sorry. We were looking for something French and cuisine we don't prepare at home. BLC did not disappoint. The restaurant has been in business for over 30 years. My only suggestion is to update the interior just a little bit. Keep the Italian feel, maybe darken the ceiling tiles. Don't go contemporary. Just a suggestion. . My wife had the chicken and potatoes in a broth. The 2 bites she allowed me, were succulent, wonderfully flavorful, and definitely something unique to our culinary experiences. We'll be back.Kid-friendliness: I would say noisy kids might degrade the adult atmosphere.

This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember and I've been in Houston since 1995 and in 2024 comes my first visit. The special soup during my visit was the Manhattan clam chowder. It's almost like a tomato base with clams. Interesting take, but I prefer the creamier white sauce version. The crab cakes were decent. Nothing to go crazy over. It had a nice crisp but would fall apart when you cut into it. The veggie portions were abismal. Also during my visit they offered a three course dinner for around $50. The aforementioned clam chowder was my first course. The trio of lamb chop, bacon wrapped quail and duck were my second course. The duck was exquisite. Lamb chop wasn't bad. The mashed potatoes tasted like it was made yesterday. Also this spot is kind of pricey, but I get it, it's French food so it's not super common around these parts. My third course was dessert which was the red velvet cake. Tasted like it's been in the fridge for 3 days. Overall this place is alright but I'm not rushing to get back.

Very pleasant atmosphere and attentive service - without overdoing it. Food was what I like about French cooking - good flavors in simple dishes. Prices were very reasonable. A good experience.

Fabulous evening for Valentine's Day. Set menu was varied and what we ordered was artistically presented and delicious. The wine they recommended was excellent and affordable. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. Very nice!

We were the first to arrive and had reservations but the waiter was inattentive and rude to my mother the entire time we were there. People arrived after us and were attended to first and more often. We were sat next to a very very large noisy party. We could have been seated at a better location. My daughter was celebrating her birthday but they seem to forget that. This was her choice for her special day. The food was good except I ordered the fish special and it tasted bland like it just came out of the freezer. Did not taste fresh at all. The filet mignon and pork chop however were cooked and seasoned well. Our family has dined here for many years but I'm sad to say it was disappointing this time around.

Ideal place for special occasion lunch. We both ordered the winter 3-course meals and everything was delicious. We plan to treat ourselves with a lunch at Bistro Le Cep more often!

Making reservations was easy, parking was no problem and first impressions of the restaurant were good. The menu was fine, however, we would have like to have been alerted to the fact it was an 'amended' menu being offered on Valentine's day. Most of what we would have ordered was part of the available fare, however, these kinds of menus are being offered as something different than stated on the website, we would like to have known that. Our waiter was great. Not overly attentive and yet, got the job done.
We have been avid customers of Bistro Le Cep for at least 20 years, so we are saddened by the recent massive increase in their prices. We all know that restaurant prices have increased out of all relationship to food prices, but Bistro Le Cep's price increases - on the order of 50% - have exceeded other excellent French bistros in the Houston area in higher rent areas, such as Etoile Cuisine in the Galleria and Bistro 555 (successor to Bistro Provence) in Memorial. We hope Bistro Le Cep will return to their earlier business plan of quality French food at a reasonable price, but until they do, we will not be back.
