Came in here with a couple of hours to kill before my trip back through Hobby. This place is legit! Simple - huge flavors - no soy sauce needed. And if your timing is right - it’s tuna break down day.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing!! I did a walk in, and fortunately they sat us even with a full house. The host/cashier was so friendly and nice! His bubbly personality was so refreshing. I got a total of 5 hand rolls and they were the most delicious things I’ve eaten all vacation! The seafood is extremely fresh and I love the shisho and fried garlic bits they put inside! Our server was very sweet and wanted to make sure we didn’t have any allergies. The restaurant is also so beautiful and intimate. I will definitely come back to eat here the next time I’m in Houston. The rolls are very reasonably priced as well. Pull the trigger if you’re on the fence about coming here. It’s so worth it!

The hand rolls here are some of the best in Houston. Both locations, Montrose or Heights, are fantastic. The vibe of the Montrose location is more casual than the Heights, I'd say if you want a more romantic date night go to the Heights. If you want to keep your athleisure wear on, go to Montrose. Their sake-based cocktails are also delicious. No hard liquor is served, only sake, beer and wine. Also no dessert. But really a must-try, even if you previously thought you didn't like hand rolls, it'll change your mind!

We stopped by during our visit to Houston and was very impressed with the service and quality of the sushi. Our food came out within a couple minutes of ordering and everything tasted fresh and unique. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious!!! They were able to accommodate for gluten free for everything on the menu. Got the 3 hand-roll set, which was fantastic. Then added the Kani (crab) hand roll and it was unbelievable. My favorite!Dietary restrictions: Able to make everything gluten free

My recent visit to Handies-Montrose left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to the unprofessional conduct of the staff. While the food was satisfactory, the encounter with the staff tarnished what could have been an enjoyable dining experience.Upon arrival I was eager to indulge in their renowned sushi offerings. However, my enthusiasm quickly waned when I encountered a rather rude and accusatory staff member. After finishing a majority of our meal we each ordered 2-3 more handrolls towards the end of the evening. We received all but one of them, upon inquiry of the remaining handroll I was met with a hostile attitude, as if I were being accused of fabricating the missing portion of my order.Despite calmly explaining the situation, the staff member remained dismissive and confrontational. It was very strange to be accused of lying about a $6 roll when our bill was already well above $150. Their lack of professionalism was both disheartening and off-putting, especially considering the amount of times we’ve visited handies. The encounter had already soured my dining experience. And was quite awkward due to the close proximity to other patrons as well. While handies may offer delicious food, the unprofessional behavior of certain staff members detracts from the overall dining experience. I would recommend management to focus on improving customer service and ensuring that all interactions with patrons are handled with courtesy and respect.

I'm always up for a good hand roll. Handies is my favorite place in town to get some. It's nice that they have open up more locations. Love the service here and how friendly the staff is. Similar set up per usual with bar seating and menu.We got lucky and didn't have to wait as there were two people leaving when we came in. We opted for the five set hand rolls which came with the BGB sake, spicy tuna, kani, avocado, and negitoro. We also ordered kanpachi crudo as well. My favorite was the negitoro and kani but all of them were amazing. I always love coming to Handies. Very consistent quality and excellent service.

Been here a few times and I love it! Service is great. My only qualm that I had to deduct a star for is because…. the uncomfortable seats. The other location has a foot bar you can rest your feet on so that your legs aren’t dangling, but here, nothing! The seats are just a small round piece of wood so there’s not much to work with in terms of comfort. *****I hope the owner sees this review and does something about this. This uncomfortable seating is enough for me to not want to go to this location even if it’s closer to me. Sigh!

Low key casual sushi bar. Very fresh sushi with great traditional and crisp options.Worth noting it is all bar seating which makes the service great and personal.

Randomly came here bc we couldn't find parking at another sushi place. Pleasantly surprised. Everything was so good and the sake juice box is so cute

Truly perfection, I'm in the hospitality industry, and I can tell you, I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant that was simply perfect where everything from quality of food, presentation, the service, the cleanliness, the ambience in the restaurant, and the overall hospitality. The quality of the fish and rice served at Handies is a 10 out of 10! I'm sure most of these pictures speak for themselves, truly culinary perfection. Not sure there is a better hand roll and sashimi experience anywhere. If you haven't been you have to give this place a try.
