Very average food and overpriced. The service was not very polite and not attentive, maybe not good timing to visit because the restaurant was kind of busy.The ambience feel like cheap.We prefer other Izakaya down the street.

Izakaya Wa is one of my top 3 favourite restaurants. All the food is so delicious and has a seasoned taste. I definitely recommend the torimune fried skewers, one order comes with 2 generously sized skewers, they were so good I had to get 3 orders! I also recommend the sushi dinner, all the fish is so fresh and the salmon has so much fat and the bluefin tuna was amazing also. You should definitely come here. I don’t live in Houston and whenever we come here for a couple days, we always come to Izakaya Wa.

Typical restaurant atmosphere. Cheap chopsticks.Service I prefer...they leave you alone unless you need something (get their attention)There's a lot to order from here; I ordered a few appetizers, lots of skewers, curry, stirfry, matcha parfait, and some sake.Nothing tasted bad and a few tasted pretty good. My favorites were the wasabi ocopus, jellyfish, and curry rice.I will come here again for a good variety of Japanese style dishes to try more.

I grew up in Japan. This is my families favorite Japanese restaurant in Houston. All their food is great and they were the first place I found onigiri so I have a soft spot for them ??. The staff is warm and welcoming. Service is consistently excellent. Prices aren’t crazy. It’s just an all around good experience. Feels like home.Vegetarian options: They have plenty of vegetarian options. I was vegetarian for two years and came here plenty of times.Kid-friendliness: My son loves the giant squid. This is where he wants to eat whenever I ask him where we should go. Lol and I bring him here every year for his birthday. I see kids here all the time
Izakaya Wa has become one of my favorite places to get good authentic Japanese food. I like both locations but found that this location to be more chill. On a weekend for lunch, we were seated right away. They had the lunch special which was such a good deal.Service is always friendly and quick. One of my favorite item is the spicy scallops. The special of the day came with several pieces of sashimi and small rolls. It was just the right portion but very satisfying. The ambience is very casual here and also feels very homey.

I've been coming here for several years and the food and service are always on point. Recently I had reservations that I needed to cancel last minute due to members of our party coming down with COVID. When I called to cancel, the lady I spoke with was so kind and expressed such genuine concern for our well-being. That's seriously A+ customer service. Thank you so much!
Went for lunch and left more than satisfied. Would definitely recommend to everyone I know. Am planning to come back for dinner and try the cool new appetizers.
I love this place's location and atmosphere. I think their sushi could use a little work, but they have a great Chirashi bowl for a decent price. I would go to Aburi over here, but still decent for the area. Quality of the fish is not impressive, but definitely not bad.
