When we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated. It did take our server to get to us a good 10 minutes before talking and telling us what the concept and food recommendations were. The setting of the restaurant is clean, and airy due to the sun room setting on one side of the restaurant. To start us off, we did some drinks that were good but did not find any favourites. The two cold starters were: Hamachi Yuzu: 2/5 because the yuzu yoghurt was overpowering and the kombu powder left a sandy grit texture on the teeth that made it almost annoying to eat. Could barely taste the hamachi. Madai Carpaccio: 1/5 because the crunchy togarashi and black sesame soy sauce enveloped the Madai and the saucy component was too strong to complement the fish. Oyster with caviar was fresh and briny. Very tasty. 5/5. Would recommend avoiding the cold starters besides the oysters and moving straight to the nigiri and hot components of the menu. From the nigiri portion, we ordered: Hotate, salmon, gizzard shad, akami, amaebi and madai. Fresh, fatty, flavoursome cuts of delicious fish. Definitely recommend, 5/5. Also, tried the Olive A5 wagyu nigiri with black truffle and it was unctuous and absolute yum! From their hot portion, we got the baby back ribs, iberico shumai, and lobster with sake miso. The baby back ribs were falling off the bone, tender and seasoned to perfection. The shumai was good with a pipette of ponzu sauce. The lobster was rich, not overcooked and the panko with the miso sake lent it a Mac and cheese-esque quality to it. Would definitely get these again. For dessert go the Japanese melon which was sweet and juicy and had none of the chemical aftertaste that is found in the fruits here in the states. The green tea kakigori was airy and light. Usually not a fan of red bean ice cream or desserts but this one came with a really nice red bean ice cream. Would have liked the portion to be more to balance out the shaved ice. Overall it was a great time! Price wise it was affordable for the amount of food we ordered.

We came here for my dad's birthday and were extremely impressed. Atmosphere is very light, airy, and clean. Service was attentive and pleasant. Sushi was extremely fresh and flavorful. Had lots of traditional Japanese options throughout the menu. Highly recommend!

I was excited to try this restaurant. I honestly couldn't tell you what all we ordered, but I can tell you that EVERYTHING we ate just melts in your mouth. The uni was so mouth-watering. The truffle lobster mac and cheese didn't seem worth it but it was good (not great). The bread pudding was also really delicious. The service was also spectacular. The ambiance is very modern and chic. Will definitely be back again.

What a delight! The perfect ending for a perfect weekend. I wanted to find a genuine, authentic Japanese restaurant to have dinner with my wife (who loves Japanese food) and celebrate our anniversary. Not easy to find in the US (we are from São Paulo, where Japanese cuisine reins due to the large immigrant population). After 7 years living in the US, we found the one. Katami is our favorite so far. Not only the food is absolutely fantastic, but the service is outstanding (Brandon, our server knew everything about the menu and spent as much time as we wanted answering questions and listening to us. At the end, he surprised us with a glass of champagne each and an apple crumble to die for, as a gift for our anniversary. Absolutely loved this place. And, if you are not not a sushi fan like me, you can enjoy delicious vegetarians and meat based options, such as the A5 beef and the pork belly miso soup I had.

Fantastic experience. Service was top notch from hostess to waiter. Ambiance was great, low key cool vibe with good lighting. We had the premium sashimi for 2, lobster, bread pudding dessert and cocktails. Quality of sashimi was outstanding. Would dare to say it is best sushi in Houston hands down.

We had dinner here last Sunday, having a cocktail and assorted pieces of sushi, the highlight being the Southern Smoke Roll -- I am always a fan of Hokkaido uni, and this roll presented it in a way that my wife also enjoyed. Their take on a Manhattan was good, but not outstanding. We really appreciated the calm atmosphere and great service here. Food was comparable with Kata Robata's but this place is more conducive to conversation. Getting a reservation suggested limited seating, so that I had settled for seats at the sushi bar, however the hostess was readily able to find a table for us when we arrived. The parking lot is dominated by valet parking reserves (and I absolutely hate valet parking), but there was an unreserved section in the center of the lot, so I was able to avoid the valet. There are limited options beyond the parking lot. Overall a very positive experience. We'll be back.

The food was fantastic !! I love the nigiri the prices are sooooo fresh & fried rice ! miso soup was nice and hot. Wagyu was pricy but very delicious! Katami is definitely in my top sushi places in Houston if not of all time :) the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the service was slow, it took a while for the food to come out although the waitstaff was attentive and the ambiance was cute and cozy that was my only issue.

I really liked Katami. The food was as good as Kara Robata which we LOVE, but I don't know if the dining experience is worth double the price. They do have a better cocktail menu than Kata though. Overall, it was nice to try but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again. I'll just go back to Kata Robata. The bread pudding is amazing though! Honestly forgot to take pictures of a lot of the food because I was just enjoying the vibes lol

Valet parking or street parking, in verde garden! very pleasant to get to and be in that area. beautiful interior, and modern restroom, I went and took selfie pics in there LOL. Bar service is great, they also have TV in that area too for sporty peeps. There are some things that will not be available here such as the wagyu beef skewer, and ramen, but chef hori is coming up with some new things that im super excited for. the kakigori - recommend the green tea, and they give you some extra sauce on the side, I would recommend to use it after you eat half way through, the ice takes a while to melt because they import that ice from Japan, and the ice-water is pure. cool right? if you want bar seating, make a reservation for guaranteed seating! they are open Mondays too, service was a plus. the meal is fabulous, and when you order nigiri be aware that there may be too much wasabi depending on who makes it. the wasabi is freshly grated. I ordered 10p nigiri, olive wagyu with black shaved truffle, oyster with caviar on top, and scallop foie, and... 6p New Zealand salmon nigiri. all excellent, when I come back I definitely want to order more things from the menu. I would order sashimi for 2, and all the top recommendations. whoa wait, we ordered this appetizer with milk bread and it was AMAZING. its called Toro Tar Tar: fatty tuna, kimchi sauce, peanuts, quail egg, with milk bread. *** highly recommend to order that! Enjoy yall! 10/10

"An absolute revelation in the Houston sushi scene" - this is what kept running through my head as each new course of the omakase came out.The ambiance is chic and upscale, lively without being loud. Service is top notch and was impressed by the entire wait staff. The food, well, one of the best sushi experiences I've had outside of Tokyo. Flavor pairings were surprising and delectable, presentation was gorgeous. All around an incredible experience and I can't wait to go back.

Katami is the new standard for sushi in Houston! The service is 5/5, ambiance 5/5 (inviting and cozy), sushi rice....6/5, rich flavors and complexity that refreshed our palates and wet our appetite for more. We will be repeat customers because it was just that good. Living in Houston before we have grown to covet the food scene there and Katami is special. Give it a try and get ready to be treated to bold flavors and authenticity at a level that exceeds expectations.

Chef Hori has done it again!! This place was absolutely incredible. The food, drinks, ambiance, and design are 10/10. Also, their bread pudding is one of the best desserts in Houston. Can’t wait to go back!
