I was surprised by the flavor! This tacos are delicious! We ordered tacos de bistec, costras and taco de pescado. The taco al pastor and costras are a must! We will definitely go back to try other items in their menu.

I came here for the first time with a friend. I had the mushroom costra, which I am definitely coming back to get again. The costra is a tortilla with what looks like another tortilla of fried cheese inside. The cheese was delicious, plus the mushrooms inside had really great flavor.I liked that this place had several vegetarian options (fried avocado, mushrooms) in addition to the neat offerings. They also had a mint pineapple drink that looked really good, which I may order last time.I only got one Costra because I was trying to save room for dessert later, but if I wasnt', I would have definitely ordered a second or I would have walked away hungry.

Stopped by on a whim with my son on a Wednesday night. The interior was a bit on the modem and trendy side with very contemporary Spanish language music. We were pretty much the only people in the place that night. Their menu aligns more with traditional Mexican tacos than tex mex. For our first outing, we shared a quesadilla, he had a Horchata and a pastor taco. He likes the Horchata and the taco . I think the pastor could have used some pineapple to round out the flavor, but he didn't complain. I had a bowl of frijoles and pork(chicharrones). The beans were a bit salty but the chicharrones were tender and soft. Overall, the food was tasty and fresh. Portions not on the extravagant side by any means, but the prices were pretty modest. So you might want to order two or three tacos and mix them up. They offer each of their tacos three ways, traditional soft tortilla, grilled like a burrito or in a crispy curled up corn tortilla. So it could be fun to try one type of filling each of the three ways. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The selection of beers and fescas should have something for anyone.

I had heard about this place a while back and decided to give it a try. It having 4.5 stars, I would have expected some great tacos, but it was decent. Tacos were ok and the fillings were small. I will say the pastor taco was the best out of what I ordered but overall, nothing to rave about.

Picked up some tacos here to try. I had the costra pollo and the clasico ribeye tacos with a side of nopal and frijoles de la olla. The ribeye didn't have that much flavor so I had to use a lot of salsa. I feel like a ribeye taco should be juicy and packed with flavor for the cilantro and onions to pair well with. I would give that a 3/5. The costra de pollo was a little better. I did like the fried crispy cheese, but the flour tortilla was not that great. It had more flavor than the latter. I'd give this a 3/5 as well. The nopal is more of personal preference. I like my nopal chopped up or cut in thin slices. This was just one big nopal, and also lacking in flavor. I didn't really taste any garlic. The frijoles de la olla were.... You guessed it, also lacking flavor. I had to add salt. Overall I would give this place a 3/5 stars, but because I didn't eat it there (even though it was only a 5 min drive), I gave them one extra star as a benefit of the doubt that maybe it's better when it comes straight out of the kitchen. I'll probably go back at some point and try it again, but dine in, and see if it's any better. They have a seasonal pozole that I was curious to try.

Best tacos we've had in Houston. A bit pricey, but well worth it. The pozole was also delicious. Would definitely go back.

I live near here and have been several times. The positive reviews are a mystery. I’ve tried almost every taco and don’t like any. And generally i just always like tacos. Even the service is not great- once all the tacos came out cold. I have really wanted a good taco place in the heights, this is just not it. Go to el ray and eat happy.

Ordered the bistec (sirloin).. meat was paper thin and gray. Tasted nasty. Shrimp was ok. We tried to exchange the bistec for a shrimp taco and the guy at the register said we took a bite out of it so we would have to pay for another taco. So if we didn’t take a bite out of it, you’d accept the taco and sell it to someone else? Lol.. what a joke.Chips are stale. Quesadilla was soggy and greasy.Pastor was ok but not much flavor. Tiny tacos for $5 each. Not worth it.Atmosphere is strange.. music playing but also anime on the TV. Ambiance is off.Service is terrible. Each plate was carelessly thrown down on our table. As we left I looked at the manager/owner and said we won’t be back. She didn’t care, didn’t say a word. No attempt to make things right.Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. You may not have to worry, because it probably won’t last long in The Heights with so many better options. It was not la vibra.

I stopped in as they were opening and can't say I loved it. Perhaps it's partially that I don't enjoy this style of taco very much but for $27 after tax and tip I received three small tacos with nothing but: corn tortilla, meat, and onions. I ordered flour tortillas but received corn. Part of that was an order of guacamole that was unnecessarily big for tacos despite being their smallest available size. The flavor of the food was okay but there was essentially nothing in these tacos. My two cents to management:1) Remove the tip request on the computer 2) Perhaps make it more obvious these tacos come with nothing on them or lower the price to match that. A bit of education is probably needed given how different these are compared to most places in Houston.3) Allow people to order sides of guacamole not appetizer only4) Generally I'd say 3 small tacos with guacamole and a small soda should cost around $15. My pricing far exceeded that. For $27 I could get 3 huge burritos elsewhere full of all sorts of stuff.I wish them well and hope they succeed. For me this is a mismatch between toppings and price. I'll also add the person working the counter was friendly.

I enjoyed the costra tacos very much , the águas fresca all tasted fresh and delicious! The deserts were a more than tasty. Everything has a great combination of flavor and the service was excellent, will definitely order here regularly.

Drinks okay. Food horrible, cold, service not good. Server/Cashier.. tired, rushed service.Food portion horrible compared to table next to me. I've heard Food and service is better in the day time. But willing to bet it's not. Cook threw out Food on the table,as if we weren't welcome. Chicken tasted like it was cooked in pork grease.. The vibe was totally not okay...

I met up with some friends here after work. It shares parking with a few other restaurants on the block. It was pretty busy but I was able to find a spot.I ordered at the counter, then waited for them to bring the food to me. They have a variety of beverages - Topo Chico, beers, fountain soda, and juices. The staff is very friendly, and there was plenty of seating.A stand out here is a giant roll of crispy-thin fried cheese they call Chicharrón de queso. This is a must-try. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else! We loved everything we ordered, and will definitely come back again.

The sirloin taco was the best, closely followed by the pastor taco. Staff was great and food was served quickly! Recommend as a casual spot for lunch or dinner.

I found this place on accident. I was coming from another restaurant in the same plaza that the service just was not there. When I checked out this place my day was made. As soon as I walked in I was hosted by one of the team members and they were there the whole time on top of making sure I was satisfied. They have a unique concept with there tacos called costra! Worth it to try. It's so good and their salsa all of them are amazing. Margaritas tasty and affordable
