Can’t really review the food, altho I would like to be able to. Made my 2nd treck down there for lunch Wed around 1230. Chains on the door, no one inside. Door hours say 11-4. No note saying why closed.

This place is closed. Don't waste your time trying to get here. Read the reviews first

Drove over 30 minutes to find a big chain lock on the door. Highly disappointed considering I was starving. So I assume they are going out of business idk but the fact that google hours say they are open for business is deceiving. Gas ain't cheap

A bit ghetto for my taste. Google shows hours online where they close at 3pm on a Sunday. I actually CALLED just to make sure, and I was told they close at 2pm. Should've been a red flag because the hours already aren't matching. But drove by there, arrived at 1:22pm, and there's a whole chain and lock on the front door. Smdh. Called again, and of course no one answered. WHYY are "our people" so ghetto sometimes and unprofessional when it comes to business operations? I really do try to support small businesses, but please let's be professional.

This restaurants shows up in some Top 10 searches of best restaurants in houston - and lives up to its rating. Cannot imagine how low this restaurant's profile is. The food is ah-mazing! I would likely rate it the best cajun food in the entire Greater Houston Area. Go here folks! Let's make sure this little gem, with a can-do attitude of the staff and owners remains in business.

I came here based on the reviews. However, don’t believe everything you read. The owner/cook is extremely welcoming, but this location needs some true TLC. The entire kitchen is beyond filthy. Apparently Harris County Health Inspectors have yet to make their rounds to this side of town. The available food behind the glass was old and soggy due to being up for hours on end. To the left of the kitchen is a freezer for drinks, but there was an unwrapped pie at the bottom that was for sale. The sample of gumbo she provided was amazing, but I was hesitant to try it due to the filthy stove & disgusting floor that looks like the last mop/sweep session was 12 months ago.As far as the seating side, it was exceptional clean. She seems like a very sweet lady and she takes pride in her food, but she really needs to clean up her restaurant. I would hate for Darius Cooks to pop up with a random food review visit.

The lady was sooo friendly and helpful, it was my first time. The meat is so tender and everything is homemade. A perfect home cooked meal. The kool-aid was delicious as well. Everything was just perfect . Definitely coming

This is a hardcore authentic South Louisiana hole in the wall Creole seafood restaurant. The menu is whatever Pam tells you they have when you get there. Don't worry there are plenty of choices and there's always gumbo and etouffee. The flavors deep, dark, a little funky. Service is minimal - you order at the counter, she brings you the food, then you go back to the counter and get your silverware and napkins. There are at least two TVs on different channels and turned to max volume. I you're the only one in the dining room you can watch whatever you want. The place is dirty - the kitchen is in the middle of the first room and the pots are black with rolling fire. Like I said, authentic. The furniture is scratched and old and cheap. This restaurant and Pam herself are right out of Central Casting for a South Louisiana bayou. There may not be another place like this in Houston and for that reason alone it's worth going.

Absolutely delicious. We were greeted warmly as we entered for lunch. We got shrimp & grits and stuffed bell pepper with greens and black eyed pea sides. I have no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommended.

Food is good and staff were friendly. Best mac and cheese Ive had in casual dining so far, in Houston.

Had heard the hype. Have meant to try it sooner, but timing never fell into place. Stepped in and Pam came from behind the counter and gave me a big hug and a sample of gumbo. Already knew I wanted the etouffee. Had collard greens and candied yams as sides. Just had to close my eyes and I was in Louisiana. So good. I'm such a fool for not coming sooner.
