If I could give this place more stars, I would. Beautiful decor and just fabulous service. The staff so knowledgeable in regards to drinks and food that's on or off the menu. Be sure to get a reservation on the weekend if you have a party though.Parking: Very difficult to find parking. Come early if possible.

We are out for a parents night out and they have been on my list for ever. It's super cute for a date, or even to meet someone if your looking to date. The low light and warmth make it easy to be sensual and have conversation. We order the oysters and they were super clean and smooth, no grit! This is a 10 to of 10

Chanel is amazing! she came to our outdoor table and helped us decide on the perfect drinks based on our preferred flavor profiles. I ordered the Eastside cocktail and it was perfect! not too sweet, nice mix of cucumber and botanicals. They have an extensive whiskey list, including some rare pours if you are willing to try them.

Paper plane cocktail, the aperiol mixed with whiskey is a really good drink that's not so strong and it's semi sweet. The ambiance was also nice. Had Shanelle as our server and she was great and was detailed in explaining the whiskeys to us and suggesting per our taste.
Was in Houston for the weekend and had a GREAT time at Permission Whiskey last night! Peter (the owner), Shanell, Jacob, Andrew, and Tommy were all fantastic. While it was 7:30-8:00 on a Saturday night and we did not have reservations, we were able to get an outside table for three as soon as we walked in. This was perfect, as I was going to be smoking a cigar or two. While the drinks (old-fashioned, espresso martini, and bourbon, espresso martini) were excellent and the selection of spirits was very impressive, the friendly, customer service was exceptional and really made our night!! We also tried a charcuterie board which was excellent! One of the highlights of the night was drinking Van Winkle and an extremely rare blend of Glenmorangie scotch!Peter, you and your staff have a gem in the Heights!! Permission will be our “go to” every time we are in Houston (see you in 3-4 weeks)! We will definitely try your new jazz bar next time as well!Thanks again for the great hospitality and we wish you continued success for many, many years!!P.S. - thank you as well for introducing us to “James“!!

Very nice cocktails in a stylish locale. I took a star away though because the place is constantly *packed*. I understand more customers means more money for the business, but packing them in like sardines damages the experience. Your best bet is to go on an off night.

Upscale bar with great ambiance for date night or friends. Great selection of cocktails and bourbons/whiskey. We went on a friday around 8 pm, a few people were leaving just in time and we got a table for 8. There were tables Reserved so I would call ahead on the weekend. It was a noisy place but it didn't bother us, the dim lit atmosphere and our drinks were great. The bar even passed out a manhattan sample that some at our table enjoyed. I would definitely recommend and will go again. Order the carajillo!
