Food is good but the service is extremely poor! The wait time is extremely long and there usually only one waitress. Last time I came here I had to wait one hour to get my food

I've been going to this restaurant for about 10 years. The staff is pretty small and, depending on how busy it is, you might have to wait for your food. But the hard working ladies here always manage to serve up a delicious meal. I should have written a review so many years ago but I just wrote my first one for another business and i figured it's time to give R House their roses. I usually end up going with a group of anything from 2-12 people and I always have a good meal. I'm always treated well by the staff and even though this restaurant is almost an hour away from where I live I always come for a meal 3-5 times a year because it's worth the trip. It doesn't seem they stay open until 2 am anymore and that's upsetting but the food is still good. I will just have to eat earlier.Vegetarian options: You have to ask but there are some options.

The food here is delicious. Best sweet and sour pork I have ever had. The chicken with green strings is another of my favorites. The ladies that work there are very nice and friendly. The place has been renovated recently and looks very nice.

I went for lunch today and my meal cost 6.50 for the lunch special! ?❤️ the employees here are very kind and always working so hard. Service was fast for me, but it might be different for busy hours. I love this authentic Chinese spot!

Horrible place! First time there and waited for a hour and 15 minutes for our food to come out. Food are super salty, and taste nasty, and no service because this restaurant is under staffed. ONLY one server took care the whole restaurant with BAD attitude. You must pay attention to your bill that the server also charged us extra hot tea that we did not order. By the way, the place is SUPER DIRTY!

Came on New Year's Day for lunch, and the restaurant was very short staffed with the owner waiting most of the tables. I asked for hot water, and she brought hot tea instead. We ordered several dishes including eggplant, green beans, rice noodles, tofu and shrimp. The mapo tofu was very disappointing, but other dishes were more palatable. With the lunch special, each dish was only 6.50, so it's a bargain but with mediocre service.

Dirty place. Price is cheap like the food. 3 out of 6 dishes order were either burnt or spoiled. Owner is a is super rude. Stay your a** in the back. 12:00 pm is to early to be arguing over $6 pork ribs that were hella spoiled. Come to this place if you want to get sick or catch a case. Rudest staff, probably worst in the kitchen with their spoiled/rotten food.

Service was ok. However, we ordered the salt and pepper squid and it was burnt literally you see char marks. So she let us exchange it and we chose the pork ribs with peli sauce and it was spoiled!! We tried telling them and I was very discreet as I was trying to be considerate of other customers. Owner comes out yelled at me and said it supposed to be that way and I told her to try it and it made me puke. She just told me not to come back and finally after arguing they took it off our bill!! Even though I had such a horrible incident I still tipped the waiter as she did nothing wrong but the owner is foul and dirty just like the restaurant! This is not a restaurant I could recommend. DO NOT GO I am now sick. I didn't want to even give it star

First time here, came on Christmas day. Was busy but there were 3 tables open when we arrived so there was no wait. We ordered several dishes, according to my mom who's been here multiple times, the food is usually better, and the wait for the food isn't usually as long as it was today. We ordered the walnut mayo shrimp which only came with 6 shrimp. The white chicken barely had any meat and was a small portion to begin with. The garlic snow pea leaves were so so as there was a gelatinous substance on the veggies, apparently the corn starch wasn't mixed properly to make the sauce. The beef was also so so, not much taste. The toasted fish filet was probably the best of all the dishes. The sweet and sour chicken was decent too, it had a good batter on the outside and was moist on the inside. Overall i wasn't overly impressed with the food, but would come back on a regular day to give it another try.

Braised tofu was salty. Sate beef Noodles was acceptable nothing. Likely won’t come back.

Not a fancy place at all. But highly recommend for good old simple basic Cantonese dishes. Even on the weekends, they have their lunch specials which is $6.50 a plate and there were so many dishes to pick from. You can order as many dishes because they're not too big or small of size (average). Will be coming back for a good lunch spot. Would much go here for price and quality of food than FuFu Cafe for a simple lunch meal. Service is okay, may not be the prettiest place - like dishes can be chip and updated. But for what it is, it's a good deal for lunch specials.

This is a painful place to review. Before the pandemic it was our favorite restaurant in Chinatown and we went every weekend for a year, and never thought of trying anywhere else. It was absolutely the best combination of quality and price we could find. Then the pandemic hit and staff were laid off and the focus became on delivery and pick up orders and, in short, they did what they had to do to survive. The service eventually became so slow that for us it was intolerable, and we went elsewhere. We tried them again for the first time in a year, maybe even two years, last night. Same hard working, friendly faces, but also the same short staffing and an absurdly long wait time. The food is still good, though not as good as I remember, and the prices are still the best for what you get. The beef brisket and tendon clay pot is my favorite dish at R House and it still beats any I have tried elsewhere. If you have more time than money, R House is a good bet, but if you think time is money, we choose House of Bowls.
