Relatively speaking, this is a home-style restaurant served with authentic Japanese food. Its sushi and sashimi are especially delicious. Since the restaurant owner is a retired Japanese couple, so the business hours is kind of limited and the wait for food is a bit longer. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy, btw, It has one table with tatami dine-in setting

Beat sushi I ever had, the only real issue is the wait. Lines are long and you'll need to come early to be able to get in and out relatively fast. Otherwise you'll be standing around for a while.

This is truly a hidden gem deep in the amazing Houston Chinatown. It's only open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 3pm... it's one man chopping up fresh sushi and one lady tending the tables. It is a very shabby artsy decide with great classical music playing in the background. I found out about this place by word of the mouth from a friend. It's great for a long slow paced lunch with a close friend but not good for a group.

Sushi Miyagi is a cute hole in the wall restaurant run by an elderly couple. The husband is the sushi chef who prepares the food at the sushi bar next to the dining room area while the wife handles the rest of the business. There's only about 8-10 tables, so I hear it gets quite busy during lunch and the weekends. I went around 2PM on a Tuesday and luckily there were only a few other parties there. It's a cute homey restaurant and the wife is super sweet to talk to. She is also very attentive and quick to come take our order when ready. The lunch specials are largely portioned and each come with a miso soup. The unagi from the Unaju Lunch was perfectly cooked and just melted in my mouth. The Japanese Curry Rice Lunch came piping hot and comes in a portion that left me with plenty of leftovers. On top of that we got a few pieces of sushi, and let me tell you, they were the largest slices of fish I've seen in Houston. Each order of sushi comes with 2 pieces and are decently priced.Although this restaurant is only opened for a few hours a day, I most definitely believe this place is worth the visit. It's a great place to go for some comfort food and is an inviting place to dine at.
