Legit place for Cajun soul food including crawfish. I had a few pound of the crawfish Cajun style, large and perfect done. Also had hush puppies nice a bit sweet. Catfish was light and crispy. Very simple place but that’s what I want when I’m getting messy eating crawfish with my hands.

Overall we had a good experience at the Cajun Shop. We ordered the fish and shrimp basket which was enough for the 2 of us.

Catfish and rice was good but what in the world is that gumbo?? It looked like old cooking grease. Very slimy texture. Definitely not like any gumbo i have ever seen. Get someone back there that knows how to cook gumbo! Please and thank

It is a clean and easy place to park, although from the menu that appears on the bar screens, not everything is there. That is to say, although they publish it, they do not have it.They are friendly and the majority are Hispanic, at least when I was there.Their food is nice.

I didn’t like the gumbo. It was served like jelly on rice with seasonings mixed in. I have never had a gumbo served like that. Had no flavor or juice. A waste of seasonings and meat. The snowcrabs had no flavor but garlic. This is so not Louisiana style, Cajun or oriental just made up. ??The fried fish and shrimp were good. I think they should stick to fried foods. ??Boudin balls were overall seasoned with salt. ??‍♀️

Let me just say that the food was a bit salty but it was over all good. Great customer service and plenty of room to sit. They even had the game on. The floor was sticky and they needed to throw out their trash but overall it was pleasant. Room for improvement.

From the looks of the outside of the building, I almost drove past because it's in a parking lot with a bail bond place. Yet, it was so good. The service was awesome. And the shrimp po boy reminded me of Louisiana.

Oh so disappointing! After researching reviews we were looking forward to our visit. It was SO bad! Noticing how dirty the place was upon entry AND the lack of ANYONE being there, we deliberated on ealking out at the start. But we thought that considering the good reviews, let's give them a chance! As noted in other reviews the floor was sticky witb each step! A dead giveaway that the staff are not cleaning properly. At my insistence we went ahead and ordered a variety of options. Oyster poboys were terrible and had the nadty need to clean the grill flavor. Hush puppies were nothing special similar to the frozen onrs you get from HEB. Potato salad was TERRIBLE! The fountain machinr eas dirty and dispensed no ice! I don't get how there are ANY good reviews! Any proper Cajun eould be ashamed and as a native Houstonian I was embarrassed that I chose tjis place for our group! It was obvious that the 2 young people working didn't care nor did they ask. Everyone in my group agreed to leave a poor review to keep others from easting tnere money and I am the last to do so. But alas, I no longer ser the other's reviews! Have they bern somehow removed? Does Yelp allow that? Now I understand why they have 4 stars! Take it from a native Houstonian and foodie- SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE UNLESS YOU ARE HAPPY WITH A DIRTY RESTAURANT AND SUBPAR FOOD!

We drove down to downtown Houston for our trip to The Cajun Stop around 4 o'clock last Friday. Finding the location was a tad difficult but once we arrived, there was plenty of parking nearby the restaurant. Kayla and I deliberated over the many mouth-watering options we saw on the online menu. I ended up ordering the Fried Shrimp Po-Boy and the Regular Gumbo. Kayla ordered the 15 Garlic Shrimp. On my end, I'd say that the po-boy was pretty good- the shrimp was well seasoned and plentiful and the waiter gave me some complimentary condiments to go with it. The small gumbo was surprisingly bigger than I thought it would be and filled up an entire takeout cup. Kayla's garlic shrimp was good but the flavor didn't last too long. Our waiter was very kind and the service was fast. We received our food within 7 minutes of ordering! The inside of the restaurant is homey and has LED lights, a vine wall, and a variation of picnic style and booth tables. The prices were amazing for the quantity of food we received, however, there were a couple of issues with our visit. The restaurant itself is fairly clean but the floors were a tad sticky and the restrooms were out of soap. In addition, the soda machine only had six options (Dr.Pepper, Sprite, Orange Fanta, Lemonade, Coke, and Diet Coke), all of which were flat. However, there is an option of receiving a canned drink, which would be more preferable to getting a soda from the dispenser. Despite this, the food and prices were reasonably priced; Kayla and I enjoyed eating at The Cajun Stop.

Walking through the door the glass was disgusting! Every step we took inside was extremely sticky. The young man taking our order was nice, that’s about the only good thing about our visit! We ordered ice tea the ice machine was not working he had to get us ice from a machine behind the counter. The drink station looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in couple of days! We ordered the oyster poor boy, potato salad and hush puppies. The food came out pretty quickly but we were the only ones there. The oysters were way over fried, the bread was not fresh, the potato salad looked like it was curdled, we couldn’t bring ourselves to eat it. The hush puppies were ok but I’m sure not homemade! What a disappointment. Never again! Yuck!
