I like going for brunch. And I always get great service sitting at the bar vs sitting at a table! The drinks are great but the food is just okay. I would give 3 stars but the bar staff made me give an extra star

I've always meant to come here but for some reason I never stopped in. Really not sure why. I worked at black eyed pea in west gray when I was a teen and would see it all the time. Tomorrow they shut down because they will be relocating. We decided to have dinner here and let me tell you everything was simply amazing! Food: the fresh bread with whipped butter was very tasty. The chicken and sausage gumbo was so good. So much flavor. The andouille sausage was the best! The jumbo gulf fresh fried shrimp were the best I've ever had. The meat was so fresh and good. They were battered just right. You can tell they fly in there seafood every single day. The red beans and rice was simply amazing. The cole slaw was one like I've never had. They put shrimp and boiled egg. So damm tasty! Last but not least. The banana key lime pie was Probably the best dessert I've ever had! I will definitely be coming back for sure. The service was great! Fallon was great and very personable. I have over 1000 reviews in Yelp and this is easily probably my favorite restaurant every. From top to bottom you cannot go wrong here. I cannot wait to try their new location.

Hosted a client for a lunch at Tony Mandola's and the experience was first rate. The food was wonderful, the service prompt and efficient without being overbearing. Will definitely will return

We wanted to make one last visit before this location closes so we decided to go for our Anniversary Brunch this past Sunday. Evidently the Dress Code on Sundays is much different than a normal Business Lunch during the week. It looked like CLUB NIGHT on WASHINGTON AVE.Our server was Excellent, the food was Mediocre at best and it's no wonder they're closing the location as I observed three tables just around ours that the entire time continued to be served FREE Mimosa's while sharing a plate of food. Two people at one table one plate in the middle, Three people at another two plates, and Four people at another table and I only saw two appetizers being served.

We were there for the first time attending a birthday party. The food and the service were exceptional. We will be back and will be sure to frequent their new location.

We wanted to visit this restaurant before they closed, as we heard such good reports. Tony himself greeted us after we were seated and bright us our bread. He was quite attentive to us all evening. The food was fabulous. Loved the blend of Italian and Southern Gulf Coast cuisine! Wish we had been going there for years!

We no longer live in Houston but heard about this location closing and we wanted to have one last meal there. Oysters Damian, gumbo, stuffed poblano! As delicious as we remembered! Can't wait to try them at their new location - wherever that may be.

Xylophone is annoying and sat outside to avoid it. Loved Mandolas in the past but it seems nothing made it to us hot. All medium rare steaks came out medium. Seafood unremarkable and calamari was overpowered by banana peppers. Wine selection limited. $900 for six people but nothing remarkable.

My Wife and I have always considered atony Mandolas our second home when it comes to eating. When we heard he was closing the Waugh location we were broken hearted. However it was as outstanding as usual. We are looking forward to Tony's next endeavor.

Hard to beat. The prices are a reflection of high quality in the food and with the attentive service. Top to bottom, he runs one of the city's best.

We had a fabulous family dinner at this very hospitable restaurant. I'm so sorry to see this place relocating. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was spot on and you can't beat the friendly atmosphere with Mr.Tommy visiting every table to make sure our dining experience was stellar.

We were extremely discouraged after our first time eating at this establishment. It was my friends birthday and had heard amazing things about this restaurant so we made a reservation for 6 people at 7:30. We were promptly sat at our table but it took 15 min before a waiter came over to take our drink order. There was no apology about the delay because you could tell he was overworked and frazzled. Once our drink order was taken, we sat and waited another 15 min for drinks to arrive. We ordered 2 lemonades, 2 old fashions, a French 75, and a glass of wine. Both of the lemonades and both old fashions were sent back because they were extremely watered down. Management was rude when we asked for a new drink and we didn’t end up with all of our drinks at our table until 8:15. It wasn’t until that point when we were finally asked about if we wanted appetizers. We put our apps in and weren’t even asked about ordering our dinner until 8:45 even thought we called over management to ask about ordering. The hostess ended up being the one who took our order because no one came to our table to wait on us. Most of the night, we were ignored and never had one consistent person come to the table to check on us. At the end of the night, we didn’t tip generously because of how poor the service was ESPECIALLY after having management to our table more than once. The waiter made our table very uncomfortable because he asked about the tip and how much we were tipping and tried asking us for a better tip even though service was bad. We were then made to feel uncomfortable again when the valet pulled up and immediately asked us about his tip before he even got out of the car. All of this was made worse because the manage was standing right there when we walked out and he didn’t even tell us to have a good night. This whole experience was upsetting because the food was delicious but I highly doubt we will ever come back to this establishment because of how awful management handled this whole situation.
