Fast, like pappas bbq and luby's had a sassy mouth grandchild. Gumbo rue was heartbreaking, red beans are hit.

Quick cafeteria-style restaurant. Very good Louisiana / Cajun dishes plus a few others (chicken fried chicken). Cornbread was dry, but jambalaya is worth coming back for.

I dined at Treebeards at the 1100 Louisiana location on November 9th 2023 at approximately 12 pm. I ate the red beans/sausage rice with cornbread. The beans were not warm enough and taste just ok. Several hours later all hell broke loose. I had contacted food poisoning. Leftover beans may have been added to the maybe newly cooked beans or leftover beans were served. Be careful eating at this establishment. In addition, I paid $23 for a bowl of beans, a piece of cornbread, 1 slice of cake, and a glass of water, just to be food poisoned.Lenora Dunham
Good Southern food fare. The fried chicken was juicy and tender with just the right crunch. The Southern white gravy was so good, the mashed potatoes were smooth and very tasty. The rice and beans with cheese and green onions was great not to spicy but with a little kick. Well done. The restaurant was comfortable and not to cold inside.

I've been out of the energy business for a very long time so have had no reason to travel downtown. I can safely say that after 15+ years, the food is STILL superb at Treebeard's in the tunnel. The chicken & sausage gumbo paired beautifully with the jalapeño cornbread. It was like popping into a time machine to go revisit some culinary bliss!--Danny LeeSpace City Foodies Foundation

So glad Treebeards survived Covid. My favorite is RED BEANS AND RICE with Tabasco! Etouffe and Gumbo is a close 2nd followed by blackened catfish smothered in Etouffe! So many HARD decisions...

Delicious food, great spot in the Downtown Tunnels. The fried chicken was seasoned and juicy!! Loved the gravy. The red beans and rice were flavorful and the added piece of sausage is a must. My coworker tried the chocolate cake and it looked amazing!! I’m definitely returning soon on my lunch break!
