My ice cream server was extremely grumpy and complained to me while scooping my ice cream. She was also not wearing her hair net and I saw her hair visibly stroke one of the ice cream buckets when scooping my ice cream. I am not going back to this location because I don't want my ice cream to be contaminated EVER again. The server had purple hair and was short btw.

Having a large vegan selection of ice cream is a massive draw. It being absolutely divine is nothing short of a gift from the gods. I loved the ice cream and the service here. The atmosphere left a little to be desired but really we were paying far more attention to the food. Will definitely be back.Vegetarian options: Huge selection of vegan ice cream that is actually given proper attention and is not simply an after thought.

The ice cream is absolutely delicious. But for the amount of money I spent, I would’ve expected my two scoops in a cup to almost fill the cup. I had lots of toppings and not enough ice cream. My daughter had one scoop and it seemed like she got more ice cream.

I've never had a better experience at another ice cream shop in my entire life. Yesterday, I visited Van Leeuwen and not only had the best ice cream but also the best customer service. The employee serving me (I don't remember her name) was the sweetest and gave me tons of samples and recommendations. Although, I have to deduct one star from the atmosphere due to the loud and obnoxious employees/managers (not sure what they were) sitting at a table. The girl was doing her best trying to hear me, but the two people were very deep into their loud conversation and it was hard for her to hear me! I highly recommend anyone going to try the Early Grey ice cream! so yummy!!

Opens late which is a plus! They have some great tasting flavored ice cream here. Staff is nice and willing to let you try as many flavors as ya like. One of my fav ice cream spots to go to in Houston!

Great ice cream place, reasonably priced and nice portions that we normally have to share Been in other locations in San Diego and California, so familiar with the vibe and ice cream Doesn't disappoint

I stopped by Van Leeuwen to pick up some ice cream and had pleasant visit! This location is in Rice Village, and I'd recommend parking in the Rice Village garage (free for 2 hours). I got the planet earth flavor (spirulina and matcha), and I think my friends got some sort of berry cheesecake flavor and coffee chocolate chip flavor. All were tasty, and the employees were very nice and let us sample some before choosing. There's vegan flavors and pints available to purchase. The cons are that it is on the pricier side for ice cream, and there isn't much seating.

Flavors are always delicious and I appreciate how you can taste test the holiday offerings. They need more weekend staff though. Line out the door with just one employee. :(

Van Leeuwen- COME TO THE NORTH SUBURBS!I have to dock a star because of my experiences with super limited flavor options. I go for dairy free ice creams and by in large it is very common for dairy free items to also be gluten free a lot of the time. For some reason, is not so at Van Leeuwen though. Verrry limited choices that are GF, and if not, it’s almost comical because the 1 remaining option will for sure contain peanuts (the 1 other thing I have to watch my intake of). I’ve found myself having MAYBE two options, which is better than 0 but not very exciting. I couldn’t even get vegan vanilla for a sundae without buying a pint for it! I would hope the vegan flavors that contain gluten could quite easily be modified to be gluten free with a couple substitutes. Yes, I will be a taste tester for this.

It’s not terrible, but the quality definitely doesn’t match the price. There were a bunch of flavors, but they did not taste good. Cone is $1 extra which was not indicated on the menu. There is almost no seating inside. Would not recommend.

The perfect sweet late night pick-me-up. The ice cream here is well balanced in creaminess and sweetness. Their honeycomb, marionberry cheesecake, and earl grey tea are my favorite staple flavors. They also have an extensive vegan menu. What makes this shop stand out compared to other ice cream shops to me is the waffle cone. It's extra big and super crispy while not being too sweet or crumbly. Yes, the price is a little expensive here, but it's a sweet indulgence.
