Disappointing Meal at El Toro - A Far Cry From Previous VisitsAs a longtime patron of El Toro in La Porte, I was saddened by the subpar dining experience I had on my most recent visit. This used to be one of my go-to spots, especially for their delicious ceviche, grilled shrimp salad, and Mexican street corn - all of which have now been removed from the menu.Hoping the rest of the menu would still deliver, I ordered some of my other favorite items. Unfortunately, the quality just wasn't up to par. The chips were stale, the queso was served cold, and the nachos were simply awful. Even our main dishes, which are normally quite tasty, tasted merely "alright" - a far cry from the flavorful, high-quality meals I've come to expect from El Toro.I'm not sure if the change in quality is related to the current economic climate, but it was a very disappointing dining experience overall. The loss of my beloved ceviche was the final blow, as that was truly the main reason I frequented this restaurant.Sadly, unless El Toro can recapture the level of excellence they were once known for, I don't see myself returning anytime soon. It's truly a shame, as this used to be one of my favorite Mexican spots in the area. I hope they are able to get back on track and reclaim their former glory.

The food at El Toro is great. This is where I come when I want a more authentic Mexican meal. I love love love the Pasole Rojo. The atmosphere is ordinary & when it is crowded, it can be so loud it is difficult to carry on conversations.

Our server was awesome! She was patient yet very quick with service.
1st time visiting. Atmosphere was peaceful wasn’t noisy. It was actually what I was looking for. Food was absolutely delicious. I already I would not be able to eat much so when I placed my order I asked for to go container and if they could place the sides in a to go container as well. I know this sounds ridiculous but the waiter didn’t even think twice about it. He was great! Wish I would have gotten his name. Overall will definitely be back. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner!
