Lalo's Mexican Grill is a colorful and spacious restaurant located in downtown Madisonville. It includes several dining spaces and a bar, and has a full menu of items. The chicken fajitas were delicious and the serving size was ample. The servers were attentive and helpful. The guacamole appetizer is quite large and includes fried thick chips. The complimentary chips and salsa were fantastic. Prices were very reasonable and the food arrived quickly.Parking: Street parking is available in the front or in a lot behind the building.

First trip my Carne asada and hubby's steak quasadilla was good. The second time was take out and I got the Caldo de res soup, even though I thought $13+ was very high for it. I'm guessing the meat was beef shank going by the big triangle bone with the meat attached around it. Impossible to eat as is and had to take out of the container to cut the meat off the bone. Considering we were not at home, that wasn't easy to do. Once I got the meat back in the container and bit into it, I realized it was a complete waste of time as it was extremely tough and mostly grizzle. It was hard to cut but I chalked it up to plastic knife. Every other restaurant I've had caldo de res from used chunks of chuck roast cooked low and slow until very tender and the broth was much more flavorful. If I had had it in the restaurant I would have sent it back.
