Excellent food and impeccable service. Wine pours are very generous. We would highly recommend and we will be back.

We’ve enjoyed each visit here. The staff has been delightful and the food is fantastic. While we weren’t in love with the muscles, the carbonara and seafood pasta are amazing, and the atmosphere is very enjoyable.

Mediocre food at best, worst fillet mignon I had. My wife ordered a well done mignon and was still red and had to send it back. My son did not finish his! The restaurant is overpriced for sure. We were a family of 5 and they imposed 20% service charge for “large party”??? we had 4 filet mignon and one lobster steak with 3 soft drinks. No alcohol, and our tab was $255?

While the food was reasonably tasty, the descriptions in the menu are lacking and give no indication of how dishes are prepared. I don't usually order cream based sauces and have an aversion to sugar. I was completely surprised that my pasta came in a sweet pink sauce. One shouldn't have to waste time asking about each item on the menu to decide what you wish to eat.I would have given 4 stars if not for this.

This is a great place to go with friends that are not hungry and want alcohol. It's crazy loud - they need some accoustic foam or soft surfaces to absorb the sound of people talking. Our first time going - we called ahead - told no wait, we live close, less than 3 minutes away, went right away. There was certainly a wait. That's OK - the food must be good. We were eventually seated - service was crazy slow...The appetizer - Prawns and Pesto - tails on prawns were decent, the pesto was pretty good. The Salad -Cesar specifically, it consisted of lettuce, a couple croutons and some parmesean cheese. IS that a Cesar salad? The rigatoni - no parmesean cheese offered, ok serving size - the sauce was plain - no real flavor..... I dont think there are any Italians in the kitchen. The wine... Dante.... tasted like two buck chuck.Dang.I asked my server his name... Matt...I asked him if he understood a couple Italian words - he explained he is Turkish as is most of the staff and does not know much about the language or the food. I thought that was super interesting as most of my Turkish friends dont eat Italian food becasue it has pork in it and they're Muslim. Interesting..... what about the kitchen staff? He laughed out loud as he explained that they get some food ideas from the owner's french friend that comes in from time to time. Fontina is a nice place - not a fine dining restaurant or an authentic Italian place, glasses dont match, silverware doesnt match, etc..- more of an Italian theme....sort of.

Service was horrible, was served a Ceaser's salad with no dressing. Had to walk it up to the bar where the server and bartender were stuck in their phones and show him he served lettuce only. Ordered Fetticcine Gambari, the pasta was so overcooked it was mushy and the sauce was really watered down and tasteless. The shrimp was ok. Horrible experience, will not be back

Fontina is just off the main square in downtown McKinney. We'll definitely be heading back. We both enjoyed our meals and there were several other menu items we'd like to try.

Stopped here for an evening with friends before enjoying the beautiful downtown McKinney. Decided to go with wine and apps and it was a good choice! Jade took care of us and on her recommendation we tried the Bruschetta and Spinach Dip - both amazing - and added in a little protein with the Meatballs which made it a perfect combo for the three of us!

Has a hard time honoring reservations. Don’t take them if you can’t honor them. The hostess did not even ask for our name regarding the reservation. The downstairs area looks great the upstairs lacks a lot.

I love downtown McKinney and I am a super strong supporter so leaving this review is difficult for me. Have been here for dinner once before (and recommended it to others), made a reservation and met another couple of dear friends there. Was surprised when they took us upstairs as I didn’t even know there was an upstairs dining area. Evidently it has just been opened upstairs for a few months. Was happy that it was quieter upstairs so we could visit but it definitely did not have the ambience of downstairs, but that was OK. The rest of the evening was just quite a mess. It took quite a while to get drinks out- only 3 of 4 came out and it was probably another 10 minutes before the fourth drink came out. In fact it didn’t come out until after the appetizers had came out. When our dinner was brought out- two guests got their main dishes and two got salads only. (Usually those with salads get them first then all entrées come out together). One salad had no dressing. The other entrees came out later and the medium rare steak was clearly medium well. There was no follow up, checking in on how things came out. It took a good 10 minutes to get the waiters attention about the steak and he said “well maybe a bit overdone” -my friend asked for a new one and the waiter shrugged it off and walked away-No help was offered. No solution. It was difficult to get the waiters attention to get our bill - he was bussing tables and it was literally almost empty upstairs by the time we got the bill.Three of the four dishes were very good, but it was just a disjointed evening. I would probably go back for the food again, but I would definitely hope for much better service and attention to detail and willingness to accommodate dinners requests.
