This use to be my goto for good egusi stew. The last 2 times I’ve been has been very disappointing. I’ve asked both times for white meat chicken and they gave me a leg and thigh. Also I was up-charged for this request but still gave me dark meat. The Egusi tasted watery with no seasoning. Whoever is back there cooking needs to be replaced. I’ll never go back here not while they have that cook.

I mentioned that I have a lot of food allergies and they told me that suya has peanuts in it. I decided to just order the coconut rice to be safe. They took initiative and figured out how to facilitate me. They cooked the suya with ginger instead of peanuts. Wow. It's very rare that restaurants go the extra mile. The ginger suya was delicious and I will be a repeat customer.

I wanted to try African food for the 3rd time ( I didn’t like it at the other places I went)and was told this restaurant has good food. I came in and was greeted at the door, the young man at the front was very nice. I ordered the egusi but was given vegetable stew with yam fufu instead. I didn’t realize it until I left and showed my friend what I ate. Neverless it was absolutely delicious, my husband had the Jollof rice and beef suya again delicious. This place is very clean inside with plenty of seating. I highly recommend. Next time I want the egusi please ?

Just the right amount of spice on the suya.

Hands down! Suya Hut has the best suya that I've ever eaten. My boyfriend and I came to Houston for the weekend. When we visited Houston, we liked to eat out at different African restaurants. We are always on the hunt for delicious suya, and we have finally found the best at Suya Hut! Not only do they have the best suya, but they also have excellent quality customer service. The grilled fish with the coconut rice is delicious. We will definitely return to Suya Hut!

I came here with my husband and a friend. We came about an hour before closing. Honestly, I thought we were going to be pressed for time, but the guy working the front was so kind and never made us feel rushed. Since we had never had Nigerian food before, he explained the whole menu to us. We ordered, then sat to chat as the food was being prepared. The wait time for the food was albeit a little long, but when we received the order, it was obvious EVERYTHING was made to order. The jollaf and plantains were piping hot, and the meat was freshly grilled. He even threw a few freebie suyas in there! The meat was well spiced, but not too spicy. The jollaf was soft but not mushy. The plantains were slightly crisp on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. We all agreed the chicken suyas were the best. Shrimp second, and beef third - honestly this ranking surprised us because that's the opposite of what we would have expected. The beef suyas were good, but they were a little lean for our taste and reminded us of beef jerky. But I assume the beef was authentically prepared, so no complaints there. The guy manning the front was also our waiter, and he was very kind to us. Upon checking out, I wanted to try one of the drinks, and he recommended a new tamarind juice drink they had. It was so new they hadn't had a chance to add labels. We trusted his recommendation, and the drink was AMAZING. We should have gotten it sooner, as it would have paired so well with our meal. Overall, the service was phenomenal and the food was the best I've had in a long while (it felt home-cooked and special, since it's not everyday I drive by a Nigerian restaurant).

OMG! The food is so good. I wanted Nigerian food and decided to try something new. I got the Egusi stew and it was amazing! The plantains were fried perfectly. The Jollof rice and coconut rice were delucious!

OOMMGG I DONT KNOW WHO FIXED MY EGUSI !!! I’ve read most of the reviews and NO ONE HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR FOOD BEING SALTY?!!!!! I just paid for salt gravy! It doesn’t even taste like Egusi!!! I don’t even have high blood pressure but I’m feeling at this very moment the pressure shooting to my head!!! I was really wanting to experience great EGUSI with them but I’ve been robbed!!! Who’s in the kitchen right now??!!! January 12th 2024 around 2:30pm!! Like I’m furious!! I don’t even right reviews but this is an unpleasantly tasty HEALTH HAZARD!!! Hopefully they read this review!?

WOW!!! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was top-notch.Now, let's talk about the food. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was an absolute masterpiece! The flavors and spices were exquisite, and each bite was a culinary adventure. I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and carefully selected. The menu offered a fantastic variety, and I appreciated the authentic original flavors in each dish. Whether you're a meat lover, pescatarian, or vegetarian, there's something for everyone.I must also commend the staff, in particularly Gideon, for his attentiveness and knowledge. He was able to provide great recommendations and was genuinely passionate about the food they were severing.Overall, my experience at Suya Hut was nothing short of exceptional. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone looking for authentic west African food. I can't wait to go back and indulge in more of their delectable offerings.
