My wife and I had a wonderful meal there while on an overnight stay in Nacadoches. The French Onion soup is about as good as you will find anywhere. The steaks are cooked properly and well seasoned. I had the blue cheese bacon butter on my steak. It was a nice addition. The wines by the glass are moderately priced and good value. My wife had the Argentinian Malbec. It had good flavor and aroma. The dining room is very understated. You would not expect to find it in a college town. The only downside was some men there thought it was ok to wear cowboy hats and caps at the tables. Apparently their manners are some what lacking.

The food was horrible- lobster bisque was so fishy could not eat- did not taste like lobster at all !The steak was tough my potatoes au gratin were cold by the time they were replaced by grilled asparagus I had finished my steak already.Told the waiter when we he asked for our drink order that we didn’t drink alcohol- we ordered dessert- Bananas Foster was soaked in liquor and we couldn’t even eat.Was my birthday and this dinner we had looked forward to was horrible ?The only positive was the bread was excellent!

The restaurant information recommended reservations. We called and they were booked full, but recommended the bar as a first come first serve option. We did that. The bartender was Megan and she did a fabulous job of informing us on the menu options, sizes, and pairings. We are the calamari appetizer, Caesar salad and rib eye steak. Everything was excellent and largely sized. We shared the appetizer—which was a full course meal size—and the Caesar salad—also a full size meal by itself. The croutons were cornbread croutons. I’ve never had a sweet crouton and was pleasantly surprised—I also respect a place that doesn’t use premade croutons. The staff was courteous and well informed on the menu items. The atmosphere was quiet and unassuming yet elegant.

Food was great and we all had a great time and our waitress, Emily, has got to be the best waitress that my wife and I have ever had...just a very special young lady that made our time at the Republic even better...thank you

This is a fine dining restaurant and great for special occasions. The food was very good (we had a steak. a salad, and dessert). Our waitress provided excellent service.

Celebrated a graduation with a party of 7 last night. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was good however the service was not that of a fine dining restaurant. We were disappointed.

Nice atmosphere, decent food, polite staff.Kind of pricey for the lack of etiquette. (i.e. removing chairs from our table while we're eating. Not checking steak doneness upon serving.) but a pleasant evening none the less.
