a good Italian restaurant...too bad they decided to close and open a Cody's instead...Cody's is typical fare, and not very good...guess we'll never have good Italian food in New Braunfels again

Had heard good things about the place so made birthday reservations a week out. Party of 7 and after a very long wait only half the dishes came out. The remaining items came much later and by that time food was cold. Steak overcooked and sent back and my salmon wasn't cooked all the way through and was sent back. Overall bad experience. Waiter was very frustrated with the kitchen and we did have several items taken off the bill.

We really enjoyed the food it was quaint relaxing Very enjoyable time. We were 45 minutes earlier than our reservation but they got us right in which was very nice we appreciated it.

Arrived on time for our dinner reservation but the hostesses seemed to be overwhelmed and couldn't seat us (and other guests with reservations) for a good 15 mins even though there were open tables. Our drinks came to the table after we were served our appetizers. Food was not worth the price. My Cesar salad was wilted and the short rib rigatoni tasted like BBQ sauce - not for my liking. I asked for Parmesan cheese and never got it. Will not be returning.

188 is a great restaurant m, delicious food, reasonable prices. New Braunfels is fortunate to have it. We are saddened to learn they have sold to a high end steak house. Is not a place we can frequent for obvious reasons. Is there any thing we can do to keep 188????

As always, this is the perfect place for gal pal gatherings and couples happy hour out. Thank you for always making room and giving us the experience that makes us want to come back. We love happy hour at 188 South. Early dinners there also work out very well. Janie

Wife & I had a wonderful birthday celebration dinner where the staff were very accomodating to wife's food alergies. We recently moved back to TX & now living in N.B. this will be our go to place for Italian food or whenever we want a NICE dinner. Wine/beer selection is also good & don't miss the calamari-cooked perfectly. John G.

First visit, I know, very late to the game. From the walk in the door, until we walked out service was on point. Exactly as if choreographed. Food was elevated and splendid. Five stars easily. Easily the top spot in New Braunfels currently

This restaurant was a huge disappointment. I checked the menu before I went, I saw one dish I can eat. We get to the restaurant and and they don't make (the only dish I can eat) anymore. The chief said he can make something like the plate I wanted, but it wasn't like I wanted. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs, ( it was good) he loves spaghetti and didn't like the portion was small. So will not be coming back. The price was way too high for what we got. The weird part the waitress never offered us a salad. I would think that would come with that meal($28.) The worst part my husband got sick right after eating there.

The best Gluten Free food I've ever had. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. The calamari was amazing. We also had spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken Alfredo and both were so good. The creme brulee was to die for. 5 stars for me. We'll be back for sure.
We ate here five days ago with a big party in the hot back room but our waitress and food were outstanding! Yesterday we ate here with half the party size and we had an enjoyable time! Food and service were great! Our waitress was on point! Coincidentally she was the same waitress as before. She remembered me and my husband's order from before. She remembered I eat gluten free. She's awesome!! My GF pork belly pizza was so good! The rest of the party enjoyed their meals. Not one complaint.

We were here to celebrate a wedding anniversary and it was a perfect choice! We were pleasantly surprised to find live musical entertainment ( two guitarists, playing wonderful background music) for a Wednesday night dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. We shared a creamy lobster stuffed ravioli as an appetizer. I had their special grilled salmon dinner that was cooked to medium rare as I asked. My wife's Fruti del Mare was awesome also. The chef really knows how to prepare seafood without overcooking it! Dessert of Tiramisu and cappuccino topped off a great evening! We both think they have “stepped it up” in the past year on so many levels. Enjoy!

The service was great - our waitress was very attentive & the drinks from the bar were delicious - I particular the plum old fashioned :) I started with the mussels as an appetizer- although not the best I'd ever had -they were still tasty. We would definitely visit this place again- the vibe inside the restaurant was very nice and I loved the playlist of music they had in the restaurant- unexpectedly cool and chill.
This was an absolutely fantastic experience. I am gluten intolerant and they have the most amazing gluten-free options. The food was amazing, and the service was phenomenal. Our server was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, and went out of his way to inform me of new gluten-free options they had available. The group I went with ate from the regular menu and they loved their entrees. I cannot wait to go back.
