Location is perfect. Customer service was friendly and answered all my questions. Food was made to order. Ordered the fish sandwich and the chicken sandwich. Both tasted great. Fries were heavenly.

I'm going to get to the point succinctly in this review. I had high hopes for the chicken here. I ordered 6 wings with Sweet 'N Spicy BBQ and Ranch sauce. I also ordered the Baked Potato Casserole ( mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon and herbs).The wings were average. The wings were very greasy and needed to be crispier and have some seasoning for flavor. The wings tasted bland, at 6 wings for $14 I need flavor and perfectly fried chicken. Why? Popeyes does it well it for cheaper so why can't Roots Chicken Shak do it even better for more?The Baked Potato Casserole was good, however the serving size was small! It was $5 but very small. The flavor was good and it was very cheesy. This isn't a bad menu item at all.I can't recommend Roots Chicken Shak, save your money. The service is subpar, nothing terrible but not average either. I wasn't greeted or thanked for my business and I was the only customer, there was no line (which was a red flag for me since this is located in the Legacy Hall food hall and a few other restaurants had lined for their food).

I know everyone needs to make money, but the one thing I hate is going to a restaurant in America. You have a cashier that don't know how to speak English, drives me crazy I went in there today the lady just did not understand what I was saying so she ended up messing up my order I'm not one to complain so when I got my food it wasn't what I asked for but I was like it's something not a big deal I just left.
I wanted to update to add to my review on yelp but it wouldn't let me. I had to leave a review because it was like night and day. Today my husband and I wanted to try the wings, we purchase 12 wings, fries and banana pudding. Well the cooks must didn't want to work today because the chicken wings were horrible in my husband words the worst he ever had. ? The wings tasted like they were cooked in old grease and the appearance also looked like old greased was used. There was no flavor and the breading kept falling off, when I looked down on my plate there was a plate full of breading. Okay on to the next complaint, based on the picture of the banana pudding online ? I couldn't wait to try. Well when I got home which is a 10 minute walk as I open the banana pudding container which was a horrible presentation it was very soupy and has not set. If it wasn't ready maybe dont serve it. This whole trip was a waste of my money..I won't return. And I gave a tip to the crew smh.

While I usually order their wings, this time I decided to try their chicken sandwich, and I was blown away. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The breading had a nice crunch to it, adding an extra layer of texture to the sandwich. The sandwich with everything to this tangy sauce that complemented the chicken perfectly. The combination of flavors was simply amazing. The portion size was generous, and the sandwich was served with a side of crispy fries which were extra but the Duck fries were amazing also. Overall, I highly recommend trying the chicken sandwich at Roots chicken. It's a delicious and satisfying choice that will leave you wanting more. I want another right more typing this lolLocation is inside legacy hall. You can park in the parking garage to the left of the building which is free. Seating was easy this time as I went during the day but keep in mind this is a food hall so it does get packed.

UpdateRoots corrected the issues and made everything right.Place order thru Grubhub to pick up get there order is ready everything but half gallon of tea ask the gentleman behind counter he states no tea was ordered had my daughter send receipt I go back and show him he does everything but fix the tea mind you there was no customers waiting. This was the worse experience I’ve had get home check food ask for light salt on fries no there salty.

Sadly not as good as the standalone restaurant. The chicken is dry and overbreaded and fries weren't that crispy and were a small portion. The best part is the sweet tea though. One of the better ones I've had.
