We came in with a long list of orders. (12 people)The staff took the time to write the name and order of each person on the to-go container. They were thoughtful, not upset by the large order and the food was DELICIOUS.Order the dinosaur rib. It's definitely from the Flintstones opening!

Food was not great and felt overpriced. The Pit needs better sanitation standards as well, pretty sure they have an ant problem.

Used to be a good place to buy brisket. VERY fatty. We would buy 10+ pounds for a gathering. The last time we went in to order a large amount the staff said the owner's new policy is that customers can't ask for lean brisket on larger orders. Too bad, we left and went to another BBQ place. We would typically trim off 25% of what we had to buy there to get lean. Not acceptable when it costs $20/lb. Might try them again sometime but owner wanting to charge for fat we won't eat isn't a good start. No other BBQ place we have tried does this.

The employees are very rude! The food is as cold and sausage was so hard. We had to cook it for hen we got home! We will not be back!

Well, it's official. San Angelo doesn't have one good BBQ spot for Brisket. Thought I was in Texas , I guess I was wrong. The flavor on the bark of the brisket was good. There's no other way to describe it but dry and tough. The Mac n Cheese is clearly an after though. However, the sausage was delicious.

My family and I went to The Pit for dinner on a Friday evening at 6pm.Upon ordering, we were informed there were no Chicken Tenders. In fact, there are hardly any kid-friendly options on the menu at all, and no dedicated kids menu.We ordered a side of fries and Mac and Cheese for the kids. The Mac and Cheese had both garlic and course pepper added, my 4 and 6 year old did not care for it. They did enjoy the fries.I ordered the Chopped Brisket Pitwich and my wife ordered the Pulled Pork Pitpie. These were the absolute highlight of the experience. The chopped Brisket has a nice peppery bark.My wife and I also shared a jalapeno sausage wrap. The sausage was delicious, it didn't really need a tortilla around it.I ordered a side of Pinto Beans. They were on the bland side, with no seasoning beyond pepper and not enough salt. The sides were a bit on the small side for the price, which was disappointing. The service was not *bad*, but the two girls at the counter could not care less. They barely spoke, and it seemed like they both wanted the other to take and fill the order. There was no engagement, no friendliness. The ice machine was completely empty, I had to ask to have it filled after we had been there 30 minutes. The ketchup on the tables I checked were all almost empty. In the roughly 40 minutes we were there, no came out to check the dining area once.Worst of all, both bathrooms were out of order. This wasn't mentioned until my 4 year old had to go to the restroom.Honestly, I'm not sure that I could recommend The Pit to anyone. If you were solely looking for the barbecue ONLY, it is well priced and delicious. But the sides (in flavor and quantity), the atmosphere, the service, and the dining area were just not up to par.I would instead recommend you check out Bodacious BBQ, another BBQ place in town.Disclaimer on that: I am not affiliated with Bodacious in any way shape or form, I'm just a satisfied customer.

We ordered the brisket, which was tough. The ribs was tough and the sausage was OK. I’m really disappointed at the brisket and ribs. The ribs were not pull off the bone easily. Brisket and the ribs. Need to cook at least another four hours to be tender. Will not be back.

By far the BEST brisket and smoked sausage that I have ever eaten. The barbecue sauce that they have is also spectacular, as well as all of the sides.

Congratulations!!!! This place has the absolute worst brisket I have ever tasted. Not only was it dry, but the serving size for $10 was too small.Their menu board says French fries, they say nothing about seasoning.Don't waist your time with this place. They spent too much on the building and not enough on learning how to cook or do business. What a shame. I will stick with Packsaddle!!!!Absolute trailerpark trash!!!!To top it off they want a tip for what?????

It's just a counter service restaurant but I can't remember the last time I had brisket that moist and the Dino rib was amazing.

Overall a great place to grab some bbq. The potato salad and coleslaw weren’t seasoned to my liking, but it was okay. The corn was delicious. The lady helping when I came in asked if I wanted lean or fatty brisket. LOVED having that option. The sauce was sweet and went great on top of everything, especially the Mac and cheese.

Got a to go order. Told them it was for a family of 5. Asked for bread to go with a meal and we didn’t get it. Gave us a tiny thing of bbq sauce. So if you choose to go here they’ll cheap you out on essentials it seems. ? also their menu listed here is not up to date because they don’t offer the party packs anymore. Very disappointing. When I called to let them know the person who and didn’t seem to care.Updated after mangers responseI will address this response.1. I did ask for bread, which is why I called to complain. And no, nobody offered to fix it in ANY way. So go ahead and lie if you want to make yourself look better.2. The menu I saw was here on Google so perhaps make some updates on it since so many people use it.3. The food wasn’t really that good either. The turkey was very salty and the brisket was also very salty and over seasoned and extremely fatty even though I asked for the leaner option. Also everything was VERY greasy and upset all of our stomachs. The sausage was… well sausage. Can’t really screw that one up. I did like the squash . The Mac and cheese had no flavor. In fact, we aren’t even eating the leftovers. My dogs did enjoy them though! So maybe they’ll give you the 5 stars you’re looking for. So in the end, no, we will NOT be back.
