Best beans I've ever had! I choose Mexican restaurants based on beans and tortillas... both are top notch at El Chaparral! Christina's Relleno and their Mole are also my go to's. 10 of 10 recommend!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but when you pay $17+ a plate, I have reasonable expectations. The enchiladas Garcias was very very disappointing. It was tough chewy beef fajitas rolled in flour tortillas, covered with yellow cheese that tasted like American. No chile, no taste

We recently visited this El Chappelle location, having been loyal fans of the Helotes spot for years. It's inevitable to draw comparisons, but overall, the experience was solid. The food delivered the familiar flavors we know and love. Everything on the Valerie Special - [1 cheese enchilada with chilli con carne, fajitas, rice and refried beans] tasted exactly like the Helotes version. My molé enchiladas and sides were equally consistent, with the exception of the molé sauce. While it differed from the Helotes recipe, I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't quite as spicy, but still delicious. While the food hit the spot, the atmosphere fell short. The seating arrangement and decor lacked the same vibe as the Helotes location. Personally, I didn't like it. Despite that, I wouldn't hesitate to return if had a hankering desire for molé in the area.

The food was crazy delicious! I am usually a stickler for my rice because I make Spanish rice here at home, however, their rice was so delicious, it seemed homemade from my own kitchen. My mom didn't see the plate she wanted in the menu so she asked about it and they made it for her without any hesitation.Everyone was so very nice and accommodating. We all ate everything and for the first time, we're too full to take our drinks home. Lol ?I highly recommend this place!

We dine here often, but this was by far best experience. Lizardo took great care of us, gave great recommendations. Drinks were never empty and the food was amazing

I have eaten at the 1604 location a few times and the service and food have always been excellent. We decided to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday lunch at the Helotes location on the recommendation from a nephew (mariachi performer at this location). We had a party of 14. The food service was slow, which can happen if restaurants are a little busy. The frustration, however, came into play when the waitress only came to check on our party a couple of times prior to the food being served (almost 1 hour from the time the food was ordered). Two entrees were not delivered when the food arrived (which were then rushed out within 5 minutes), and refills of water and other beverages had to be requested from the waitress (or they would not have been refilled) at least twice. They did accommodate storing of the cake until our meals were complete, as well as multiple checks, which was appreciated. What was not appreciated, was an alcoholic beverage that was included on my receipt (which no one at our table ordered). As can be expected with a large party, a 20% gratuity was included. As often as I partake in meals at restaurants, I am more than happy with being generous with a gratuity. One would have expected that the anticipated 20% gratuity would have meant that we should have received better customer service. Do not plan to return to the Helotes location.
