I check yelp reviews for places, but I have never left a review myself...until now. I moved to San Antonio from Dallas about 4 years ago and always noticed Josephine St. with it's neon saying "Steak" and "Whiskey." Always thought to myself..."I like steak and I like whiskey, should check that place out. My wife and I finally did today for lunch. It was amazing! One of the best meals I have had in a while. I got the pork chops and loaded mashed potatoes and my wife got the sirloin and a salad. We shared with each other and were very impressed with how good it all was. We also had the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and my goodness....outstanding. It is a cool little place in a historic building. I definitely recommend this place.

Guys... y'all HAVE to visit Josephine Street and MUST request Lulu as your server!!! She's the absolute best! Lulu gave my mom and I nothing but the best service when we visited. I ordered a Shirley Temple and let me tell you that was the best one I've had! Her recommendations for food were top tier and did not disappoint. The wilted salad is delish, chicken tenders 10/10 and the sirloin was juicy af! Please request Lulu as your server I can guarantee she'll put a smile on your face and make your dining experience the best it can be!!! #GOLULU

The food and atmosphere is amazing. The food has been amazing since the 1st day I visited 15 years ago. The waitstaff were very friendly. It's a great family experience.

A great place to eat, a little hidden. Great food and service. All their food was great, especially their onion rings. Interesting place with a tree in the middle of the restaurant.

Josephine street is perfect if you want American comfort food. Chicken fried steak, mac and cheese etc. I had a salad with grilled chicken, and it was good. The side of mushrooms was amazing, they were soft and creamy. The place itself was cool, but the table was a little sticky to be honest and the service was good. I'm only giving it 3 stars because the food was good but it was not amazing and I thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was. If you like fried food, comfort American side dishes and a diner style vibe then this is perfect for you!

Liver and Onions is really good. Chicken fried Steak is huge! Every plate gets a onion ring that's super delicious. Won't break the bank. We'll definitely return.

My regulars are the grilled chicken with A1 sauce or the grilled rainbow trout. This place is nostalgic for me... the tree, the bar, and the slightly slanted floor. And their drinks aren't bad either.Parking: Free parking with validation

Watch for the parking lot scam. Check your credit card. Even though you get free parking for dining, they still charge you. Also there is an extra added tax on alcohol. Taxes are my favorite

Took the family out for dinner at the Josephine Street Steakhouse.. Everything was cooked to order and the waitstaff was highly attentive. My sister thoroughly enjoyed it despite it being her first time there. First time for everything. Everyone had a great time.

Food was good my niece's chicken tasted like steak she said great staff the parking sucks you have to scan a code and give them your credit card info which I did not like then it was supposed to be free if your eating there well the next day I reviewed a 12 dollar charge on my card so I was not pleased don't think i will be going back no more not worth the hassle plenty other places to eat on Broadway that don't charge for parking

This was a great experience overall. I enjoyed sitting by the tree, and Morgan made some excellent suggestions. They were a bit pricier, but they were well worth the upcharge. The sirloin steak was a bit underseasoned and needed steak sauce, which was my only critique. The onion rings were thick, fresh, and crispy, and the peach cobbler was to die for!Parking: The parking is plentiful. I simply used the QR code once parked to reserve my spot, added my cc info, and then asked the staff for the validation code once my meal was finished. Parking is free to restaurant goers for the first 3 hours, but you MUST get the validation code from the server after your meal.
