Maria Bonita was an awesome experience. The place was recently renovated. Looks nicer in the dining room. They brightened it up and it adds that nice element when dining inside. When it was La Fonda, the dining room was darker. We came for Brunch and the food and service was awesome. The brunch menu was quite different from what I was expecting , but in a good way. The avocado toast was so different and so good. First off, they use the Brioche toast which makes the element of the toast so much better. The spread was melted Bri! The avocado toast with the tomatoes on top and generous heaping of avocado was the highlight of the meal. The chips and queso were good but it’s just not spicy enough. If you’re a fan of the chips and queso from Taco Bell than you’ll like the queso here. Not knocking it, it was very good, but I get it. If they make the whole batch too spicy, someone won’t be able to eat it etc etc. At least they use some type of velveeta where it doesn’t get all clumpy as you dine. The 2 main dishes I tried were the chilaquiles and the birria. Both were excellent. The tortillas were good. The salsas are homemade and I thought it was nice gesture that the waiter asked us if we wanted to try the red or green salsa. Birria meat was tender and the chilaquiles had ample beans and potatoes that come along side. This place is a must try. I would definitely come back.
