The chicken fajita plate was very good. The puffy taco was also very good. The tortillas were not the greatest for San Antonio standards. I would go back next time I'm in the area.

Nothing to be impressed with. With all the many family owned businesses to choose from I would not recommend. And puffy tacos were good but not the best in San Antonio as their slogan suggest. I would not recommend nor would I return. Rewarmed food in SA doesn’t fly.

Rays was the best place for puffy tacos, but the quality of the food has drastically changed. Whoever is making the puffy tacos do not know how to make the puffy corn taco shell! I understand that cooks change but the recipe should not as that’s what keeps the customers coming back for more. Sadly, they’re just not the best anymore. And the enchiladas need lots of work because they’re the worst item on the menu.

Super delish, crispy, stuffed w yummiest chicken puffy tacos topped w cheese. Salsa was on point! Whole Jalapeño was included. All was literally finger licking good. It's a must in San Antonio!
Puffy tacos! It's worth the drive or the Lyft from downtown. Tiny shack, legendary tacos.

We lived in San Antonio for four years back in the 1990s, but honestly I had never heard of a "puffy taco" before. When we visited this past week, my wife told me about Ray's and said we needed to go. We stopped in on Wednesday night prior to checking into our hotel. Parking was easy, and we were seated immediately upon walking in around 5:30pm.We looked at the menu, but it was clear we were getting puffy tacos. I got the plate with two ground beef tacos with rice/beans, while my wife got two chicken fajita tacos without the rice/beans.What can I say? Absolutely fantastic. Service was attentive and prompt. Will definitely try to visit next time I am in San Antonio.
Got a Mexican plate. Enchiladas not good, Carne guisada had no love but the puffy taco was good. However was charged $8.50 for 2 teas and another extra charge for cheese on puffy taco, who makes a puffy taco without cheese.... cmon!
