Whenever we come back to San Antonio, I have to stop and get a chili dog from Der Weinerschnitzel. I have childhood memories of sitting in the back seat of my Dad's convertible at the drive in, digging thru the brown paper sack full of hot dogs looking for my mustard and kraut or chili dog before the cartoons started. Sometimes it was a "polish" sandwich. The look and the prices have changed over the years but thankfully "shrinkflation" hasn't ruined things at Weinerschnitzel. Thank you Weinerschnitzel! This location is clean, easy to get in and out, there are tables to sit at out front, and the staff are always friendly. Most recently, as we waited to order, a family that had rolled up in a black Escalade tried to pull an elaborate scam to get free food. ALOT of free food, like $58 worth, and thats ALOT of food from a Weinerschnitzel: 18 beef chili dogs with pretzel buns, like 12 chili cheese fries orders, a dozen cokes, a chocolate dipped ice cream cone and more and that was with some sort of discount they were given. After they changed and their order multiple times it was time to pay up as the huge order was being prepared in the kitchen. Surprise, Surprise, although the initial order was accepted, now their card was declined! And would you believe nobody else in the truck had ANOTHER card to use? The girl behind the counter suggested "call your bank" to see if they could reset the card to make the purchase, but then they would have had to pay for the food, so they refused to do that. As these "customers" ranted and raved, screaming, cussing and yelling because their card declined, the staff remained calm, polite and although rattled by the extreme rudeness and screams of profanity, the staff were professional and after zeroing the charge to their card, and eventually asked the screaming scam artists to leave. The potential thieves would leave to regroup in the Escalade and come back screaming again, with new tactics "I'm gonna call the company on you!" and "This is YOUR FAULT! YOU DO SOMETHING FOR ME!" and "CALL THE MANAGER! I WANNA TALK TO YOUR MANAGER NOW B***H!" and lastly "HOW AM I GONNA FEED MY BABY?!" After 5 more attempts, generally after each new customer walked in, they left with the girl licking her ice cream cone, but only after screaming about putting a "hex" curse on everyone working there. So my opinion of this little hot dog and burger stand has gone UP! In a time when we keep seeing videos of people attacking food and service workers, these guys deserve an award for keeping their cool, being professional and not letting scam artists manipulate them into giving them free food. Excellent job guys! And since I can't give you guys a tip, thank you for what you do! Keep up the good work!

All I got to say is yumParking: I came during lunch time and there was plenty of parking while the restaurant was fairly busy and it was nice to have a drive through that did not cut through half the parking lot and make things a mess. Plenty of blue lined parking slots as well.Kid-friendliness: Everything is easy and kid friendly from staff to seating and venue options.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps and tables are ready for two wheelers, 4 wheel patronage, and dang rascals and their motorized dining chairs.
Minimal seating inside. There are a lot of new items on the menu.

I grew up on "der Vinniesnitzel" as we used to call it. I haven't had one of their dogs in a decade. They were just as I remembered, yummy! The only criticism I have is, whomever made my kraut dogs must not have liked kraut as there was maybe a tablespoon of kraut on them.Word to those who make ruebens or kraut dogs: those who order kraut, love kraut. Give us some please.

The best chili ever!! I have it on my hot dog with cheese and on my fries. The staff is friendly and fast. The location is clean and easy to get in and out. Judy went out of way to help a hearing impaired gentleman. I can't wait until they open the new one closer to my home (off of 410 south).Parking: No problems with parking as there were plenty of spots available.
