I've eaten here many times. It is hands down the best sushi in town. Usually very good service too. Unfortunately tonight was different. We came inside running from the car through the pouring rain. Then proceeded to almost freeze to death in this ice box of a restuarant. Entrees and appetizer were brought out in a totally random order. Wife was pretty much full by the time I even got my food. Took about 10 minutes for any drink to get refilled. I was a waiter for a while so can understand the slowness if the restaurant was full, but there were only 3 tables with people in the entire restaurant. Then in a almost completely empty restaurant, the hostest sits 2 people at the table directly behind us. So some complete stranger is literally 2 feet or less away from us with their mask off...! I was beyond mad at this point. At the end, we were brought the wrong check and had to correct the server. I will give them another chance eventually, but it wont be for a while. Hopefully they can get their establishment running smoothly again by then.

We really enjoyed our sushi in this modern industrial looking restaurant. The menu was extensive suiting everyone's whim. Yes, it's a sushi bar but they serve Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes. We opted for a large amount of nagri and rolls, miso soup, and a bento box for the unadventurous son. All the sushi was fresh tasting and the miso soup was full of tofu, green onions and plenty of nori. Some restaurants are skimpy with those items. The restaurant doesn't have a liquor license yet but they do offer a free beer or glass of wine. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive and met all our needs. Looking forward to returning soon.

Tasty above-average Sushi/Asian Cuisine spot. Really liked the pan fried noodles. Crispy!

Have always struggled to find a decent restaurant in San Marcos ( I’ve lived here for 5 years) and this place was amazing. Very friendly staff and GREAT food. If you haven’t been yet you are missing out.

My favorite sushi place around! We go here every couple of weeks when we need that sushi fix. Chef Ray makes some of the most interesting rolls and is very accommodating and will make sure everything is perfect. Make sure you get the dark rainbow roll, cherry blossom roll, and fresh wasabi. They also do an amazing wonton soup and we a make sure to bring some home for later.

Thankfully my wife has recovered from COVID though still has no sense of taste, as the ramen served to her was just a bowl of under seasoned broth with noodles and an egg! Definitely not a bowl of ramen worth ordering again. I ordered the Singapore noodle, again under seasoned and very very greasy. The restaurant appears to have some issues with a liquor license so alcohol is complimentary. Even a free beer will not entice us back to this place

This review is purely about service. Stood at the takeout window for over 10min getting stared at by people inside and had a waitress even walked up and asked if I could be helped and i said I needed to order for takeout. She walked away and I could see through the window answering the phone, served drinks to people, glancing my way. Kept doing her thing. I waited another 15min. So I left and ate at the awesome Thai food place less than a mile away. Really disappointing.

Decided to eat Ramen last minute and came across Otsu! I had their Ramen with pork and Tonkotsu broth. It was full of flavor and cooked well! Along with Ramen we had their Crab Cake for an appetizer and the Volcano rolls which were both great! Staff was friendly and so attentive. Overall restaurant itself was super clean and the environment was laid back. Perfect for a night to dine out!

Ok I went there a few weeks back with an open mind. My main sushi place was closed that day but when a craving hits, you have to go with plan B. The sushi was pretty good, not up to my favorite place standards, but why I'm giving this place just 2 stars is because of our waitress. She acted as if she'd rather have a root canal then to wait on us. She was actually rude, curt and hardly came by to check on us! She actually walked away in the middle of us ordering! She made the Soup N*** look like Snow White! We dropped $80 on this meal to have such poor service. I was made to feel like I was wasting her time each time she was called over for us to order more food. I'll never go back there again. I'll get my sushi service at the best place in town: UNAMI.

Great sushi. I had the Phoenix roll and some edamame. The Phoenix roll was HUGE. I'm glad I didn't decide to buy a second roll. Edamame could have been salted better, but it's not hard to do myself. My only real complaint is that the roll was almost too big to fit the pieces in my mouth, but let's be honest, that's not a real complaint. I'm sufficiently full and satisfied! This is the best sushi I've had in San Marcos.

Otsu is my new go-to sushi spot in San Marcos. To start, the wait staff is incredible, and very helpful. The menu has lots of options that I'm excited to try, but for my first visit I only had nigiri and a single roll. The nigiri was very fresh, and cut thick. The roll was HUGE for the price. I can usually eat two sushi rolls by myself, but I struggled to finish this one. It tasted fantastic as well, and the honey sauce was perfect. Will be coming back for certain. Thanks Anna!

99% of the food here is really good and the service is great. But they should consider changing their japanese curry recipe to be more flavorful and not as watery.

Best sushi spot in San Marcos and rivals those in Austin as well. If you're not sure what to order just ask for a plate of nigiri or sashimi and snack on everything!
