Cracker Barrel used to be amazing growing up, but as of late, it's been getting worse. The shop up front always has cool stuff and the staff is nice, but the food seems to be decreasing in quality. The last few times I've gone, it's been obvious to tell that the food was refried or that the oil was old, or even that the food is freezer food rather than being authentic country food in general. Also, the last time I went, the waitress was nice enough, but I was with a big party and the waitress made it awkward to order because she did not move around the corner at all and only stayed at one end of the table so the further away she took orders, the louder we had to raise our voices and the harder it was to hear her. She wasn't new either-- she had more than one star on her apron. Anyway, they were out of almost everything my cousin had to order, too, and she had to reorder at least two to three times before she could actually get her dish.

Went to Tanger Mall in San Marcos, TX, for a family outing. Cracker Barrel was close by, and it rarely disappointed my expectations. The giftshop was engaging and brought back a lot of memories. The menu was upgraded since I last visited years ago, which was a plus. My server was very attentive, polite, and provided not only accurate orders but also recommended other items that made the lunch memorable.It was a great part of our family outing today!Two thumbs up! ?? ??

We love Cracker Barrel so are prejudice. Don’t have any near where we live in CA and always make it a point to stop to eat there when there is any in vicinity when we travel this one was in TX and didn’t disappoint. Love their breakfast options. Warning - sooo many cute things in their shops you may spend more there than for eats. Especially if you have grandchildren :-)
