I've been here twice and the food has been really good. The first time the woman in the window which was not mother Kelly. This woman was just very rude. I came back a couple of days later because the food as I said was good. Service was a little better it was a different lady at the window. But absolutely no appreciation that the customers there is and I feel a little bit rushed while they're trying to take the order wasn't trying to read the handwritten menu on the window. I will say the mashed potatoes were in need of salt and second time I tried them I'm pretty sure they're instant. The brown gravy that my daughter got she couldn't eat it. I guess it's canned gravy? And she typically likes brown gravy on her chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I got her white gravy a couple of days later and she liked it. But the mashed potatoes were still kind of bland. The salt help them a bunch but again I think they're instant. The candy yams were absolutely delicious. Add the chicken fried chicken was terrific. Third time today I tried to go through the drive-thru because my daughter wanted to eat there. we're waiting in the Drive-Thru with one car in front of us and they will not move forward. No employee looked out the window or ask them to move forward like they would typically do. Where did there about 10 minutes and then finally somebody opened the window and asked them to move forward. They move forward barely enough for us to kind of reach the window and read the menu. But no acknowledgement from the employee that we were there that she would take our order or anything. So I waited another 5 minutes. Nobody opened the window so we went somewhere else.Brother Kelly is a terrific cook and a wonderful person. But the employee she has running the window or ruining her business.

stopped here while driving from wisconsin to texas and had an absolutely perfect experience. the restaurant is spotlessly clean, the service is friendly and very quick, and the food was all excellent. every bite was served freshly cooked, piping hot, and expertly seasoned. even the simple vegetable sides were somehow the best i’ve ever had. the desserts were also delicious and tasted homemade. prices were very reasonable—cash preferred! worth a stop if traveling through texarkana and also worth going out of your way for simple, classic home cooking done in exactly right. really a special place.

We’re always looking for a good local restaurant as we travel and Mother Kelley’s didn’t disappoint! Everything we had was wonderful! Fried chicken, fried pork chop, hamburger steak, hot water cornbread, mashed potatoes, green beans, peas, sweet & unsweet tea, buttermilk pie, sweet potatoes pie & mystery cake. We grabbed a cream cheese cake to go. Service was top notch!The parking lot is small and gave us some concern to being able to park with our 5th wheel, but the business next to them is closed and we were able to park in their parking lot with no problem.It was definitely worth the stop and we’ll be back when in the area!

Real home cooking! Biscuits! So glad there are still non corporate restaurants. Why would someone go to Olive Garden when they could eat at Mother Kelly's???? As a vegetarian I ate the blackeyed peas. Delicious.
