Not the reef anymore. Not seafood. Bought the building kept the name. Half restaurant half club. Not a family place

Came in to this place expecting a seafood restaurant. Found out it was Mexican after getting the menu. Decided to give it a try. Seafood stuffed jalapeños were stuffed with 2 Bay shrimp and a wad of string cheese. Mexican rice tasted like cardboard. Refried beans were ok. Queso was packaged. Salsa and chips were sub par. Change the name of this place please. Not a seafood restaurant. Not authentic Mexican food either.

I miss the old menu and decorations, I was not impressed by the food at all. There are better places to get Mexican food

Ok, here is the dragged net info! This place has been bought out! The name is the same, but the food fair is of an Aztaca flare, meaning not so Tex-Mex nor straight Mexican. Tje food is awesome and fresh. The drinks are heavy and will kick you on your ass. It is Texas City's rendition of The Donkey (of Pasadena fame). This is an overlooked jewel of a place. The food that I had was excellent-- hot and well presented. Let me add the women here that are part of the business and through the door are talkative and open to engage in banter. I did not feel or sense that I was a piece of meat being viaed for by the womwn or the men during g my visit. Did I mention the fresh real flour homemade tortillas! You bet I am doing that now, before You get bored of this review. I will also say the bar is large and long! It wraps around behind the pillered window paned glass wall. So it can accommodate your buddies or a girl's night out at bar side. With that being said, let me further add the game of choice is able to be viewed on the 88", 65"s, and 40" TV along and around the bar, which doesn't include the TVs placed for viewing by groups or sport families in the dining area. I gave it 4 stars due to the ambiance and the change from the ordinary dining experiences. Also their is an open area for dancing if you and your sig, date, or your group is so inclined to indulge in the art.

I took my elderly friend to lunch and she really enjoyed the food. We had the buffet, which was a disappointment to me. There was not much choice on the buffet. They advertise desert, which was 3 different jellos and rice pudding that was very watery. The staff was very friendly.

The food was average, staff was attentive. A little pricey for the portions. The only real disappointments were the very drunk guy at the bar talking loud and vulgar. And the sign says "Reef Seafood Restaurant", so I came in expecting a seafood joint I could enjoy during lent. THIS IS A MEXICAN RESTAURANT. They should change the sign/name.

We tried them, for the first time, yesterday. I had the buffet and my wife ordered from the menu. The buffet is less than impressive, and the buffet area was dirty. My wife took two bites of her food, and didn't like it, at all. We sent it back, and they didn't want to take it off our menu, at first. They brought us another ticket, and took the food off. But, they charged our card the original price. That's theft! Needless to say, we are reporting them to the BBB the Chamber of Commerce, and our bank. We will never be back, whether they care or not.

We went here thinking it was still a Seafood restaurant only to find that it is now a Mexican restaurant. When you drive in there is nothing telling you it is a different restaurant. Everything outside tells you it is still a Seafood restaurant. The food was good and the staff were friendly. Just not what we expected.

We were literally the only table in the restaurant & couldn't get any kind of service! No refills on anything. Definitely not going back & going to give the most negative stars I possibly can!

So this is no longer the Reef, even though they kept the name. I was mad as all get out the last time I went there about a month ago. I was all set to have grill fish Pontchartrain, and the lady brings out this menu for Mexican food. I had even looked at the menu prior to arrival and they mentioned NOTHING about the change.
