This little hole in the wall was mighty impressive. The food is truly authentic. The meats were so full of flavor. I wasn't super fond of the garlic hint in the sour cream. The tacos and nachos we're almost flawless. I highly recommend this place. Come check it out!

quit ordering from them, they don't throw away the leftover chips on other people's plates, they put them on yours. how do I know this? guacamole smeared on chips, I didn't order guadamole. Next time it was lipstick on a chip. Happened several times

Was looking for good Mexican food and found this place tucked away in a small business area. Every thing was fresh. We had chicken fajitas, beef burrito. I like hot food so they gave me a green sauce and it was real good. We also had cactus for the first time. Very good. There corn tortillas are wonderful. Hand made every day. We will return .

When traveling my husband and I have always said that we want to eat where the locals eat, and I believe El Huarache Azteca may be just that place. Located in more of an industrial area, we were thankful to have found it as one would miss it if you were just driving back. The decor is cute--what you would typically find in an authentic Mexican restaurants. There are sombreros on the wall, many colors throughout and we were fortunate to hear a live musician as we entered. It did take a while to get our drink order and food but the burritos that we ordered were good. I was not a huge fan of the chips and salsa but my husband like them so there was nothing wrong with them. In fact, it looked as if the chips were made in house which should have been great, but again I just didn't care for the texture or taste. Overall it was a very good experience and we would return if in the area again.

Once again, finding the neighborhood pearl paid off big! This small restaurant is in a remote small business strip across the highway from Spectrum Park. Our craving for authentic Mexican lunch was satisfied. Our party of four enjoyed steak and chicken enchiladas, combo fajitas and a taco salad (with marinated pork, much like a burrito bowl, with rice and beans in the mix). We enjoyed the chips and salsa (green, kind of sweet and smoky). Reasonable prices, as our lunch for 4 = $58 (food, 2 margaritas and tax).

Always looking for some place new to try. Love Mexican food, especially "real" Mexican. Found this place while skimming through all the TA reviews of Clearwater restaurants. Most previous reviews were positive so we gave it a shot. As is typical for many hispanic neighborhood restaurants, the place is small and seating is simple. The decor shows a strong Latin influence with family pictures, religious images and hispanic oriented product ads and photos. The TV is set to a Spanish channel and the menus are predominantly Spanish with small English "sub-titles". We were quickly greeted by one of the two ladies working there. Both appeared to be handling everything...seating customers, taking money and preparing the dishes to be served. The menu was full of "real" Mexican dishes. A few had familiar sounding names (tacos, chimichangas, flautas, etc.) but the pictures (yes, it has photos) looked a little different from the usual offerings at other so-called Mexican places. A lot of the dishes had ingredients, toppings and sides that you typically don't find at Taco Bell...avacado slices, catcus, tripe, tongue, etc. Now, they also have other, "less-imtimidating" dishes but this is a good time to try something you haven't had before. Our group of four all had something different. I had the Enchiladas Gratinadas con Pollo (grilled chicken enchiladas with green sauce and cheese); the other guys had a taco salad, tostados and a chimichanga. Everything was excellent even though they all were slightly different from "regular" Mexican restaurant dishes. Bottom Line: If you're looking for a REAL Mexican experience, you'll find it here. The food is good, the portions are huge and the cost is, as you would expect, very reasonable. Give it a try if you want a change from the norm.
