Just amazing down home central Texas BBQ. The lean is almost as good as the moist. Simple, real food out in the country. And the owner will come around to tell you some jokes if you're lucky ;)

No doubt, absolutely the BEST brisket in all of Texas! Sausage is really good as well.

Red Wagon BBQ is hands down the BEST barbecue in central Texas! Exceptional quality and flavor characterize everything on their menu. The brisket is moist and tender. The sausage is a favorite of my guys. My favorite? The bbq bowl--a tasty sampler of brisket, beans, coleslaw, potato salad, pickles and onions!

Their BBQ sandwiches are delicious and their BBQ itself is amazing. Definitely recommend this place for lunch.

Had lunch here. Small eating area, but delicious food. Melt in your mouth brisket! Located on Homestead area which is very interesting place with weaving, pottery, blacksmith, wood working demonstrations and a old grist mill.

For lunch I had a very flavorful & juicy sliced brisket sandwich, cole slaw side, and a glass of sweet tea. The brisket was super tender & rich in smoke flavor. Portion size of brisket was generous, to say the least. The brisket sandwich is highly recommended. Cole slaw was crunchy fresh. The slaw dressing, in spite of a slightly herbacious note, was pretty neutral in taste, allowing the cabbage flavor to play first fiddle. The sweet tea was typical, okay and not much more. Folks who were manning the wagon were fun & friendly. Setting is rustic, tent walls under a meatal roof. Infrared heaters kept the inside space warm enough, in spite of it being a 60 degree F breezy day. If you are in the area visiting Homestead Heritage Craft village or the Brazos Valley Cheese store, stop into the Red Wagon for a mighty tasty meal.

We made a special trip to the Homestead just for the BBQ. It was a cold, rainy day and we were the only customers when we got there. One of us got a mixed plate and the other a chopped sandwich. Both were OK but neither of us thought it was any better than what we can get in town. If I was already out there for something else, I would try it again but would not make the trip back out there just for the BBQ.

You are not going to believe how great this brisket is. We just happened to find it passing thru Waco and got so lucky. It is “ melt in your mouth” delicious and the sides are great too. Even our vegan crowd tried some and agreed. So good!

Delicious brisket and beef sausage. Enjoyed a good meal after touring parts of the Homestead Village. We ordered a sausage plate and pound of brisket for the two of us. Ate almost all of it, we has to convince ourselves it was ok to stop.

If I could give less than 1 star then I would. This place was a huge disappointment and cost more than any bbq place I have ever been. The brisket was terrible with little to no seasoning. They charge you almost 10 for a chopped brisket sandwich that only has 4oz of old nasty meat that is covered in what I guess you could call bbq sauce although it also lacked any sort of depth. The sliced brisket was less than mediocre though they claim it to be prime. On top of the horrible food. It took nearly 20 mins for three men with no other customers to put together 5 sandwiches and slice a half pound of brisket. Did I mention the buns were these god awful wheat buns. Save your money and opt for the premade sandwich in the general store next door.
