Good home cooking in the heart of downtown waxahachie.The old style Cafe near the Court house gives you a great menu of breakfast and lunch items.The price for the amount of food was not too steep that your wallet would cry.Everything is cooked on order and always fresh. It was raining cats and dogs so we pulled off the expressway and decided we would eat where we found close parking. This was perfect. I had the daily special with purple hulls, a Southern pea I'd never had before. Hubby got a burger and fries. All were good. The restroom is a little scary but necessary for travellers.

This is the traditional Texas fare that my grandma used to make; exactly what i was looking for. If you want modern low-calorie fusion food, you won't find it here. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and white beans and it exceeded my expectations. The ladies working here are lovely too.
