We have been stopping here for many years, but have noticed a decline in the pastries and service lately. We stopped and bought four kolaches on Jan. 1st, 2024. The two we snacked on were very doughy and consider them raw. The servers gave us attitude when we finally asked if we could be served. We've always recommended friends and family stop on their road trips going through the area, but no more recommendations or stops from us in the future. Also, I'm not interested in seeing 2013 reviews. Would like to see current reviews only.

Jennifer at Oak Street Bakery was so helpful to arrange an overnight shipment of Kolaches out of state. Will definitely be ordering from them in the future!

Could not be happier with the birthday cake we ordered for my daughter's party. She wanted black with red accents and BOY did Oak Street deliver! The cake is absolutely gorgeous!!! It was so delicious, too! Those who know, know that black frosting (or basically any very vivid color) is notoriously bitter. Not sure what she added, but there was a very pleasant fruitiness added to this frosting that made it ALSO very tasty. It wowed at the party and everyone remarked how yummy it was.The customer service was amazing. Staff was friendly, prompt, and very professional. Can't wait to put in an order for the next birthday!Really happy this wonderful bakery is in our little town. ?

You can get fruit kolaches anywhere in West, but Gerik’s is the real thing. Excellent recipes made fresh with attentive service. All our wedding guests were delighted to receive them as welcome gifts. Only suggestion use different boxes as they become grease sidled pretty quickly.

Fantastic traditional Czech pastries and savouries for breakfast, really amazing quality and fresh. Very tempting indeed.

We drove through W Oak St and saw the bakery. It's the best stop we made today. I bought a cinnamon roll, a sausage kolache, a pecan roll, and a cream cheese kolache. Back to the car, my husband and I shared the pecan roll and it was so delicious! My husband said it's melt-in-your mouth. I went back inside and bought more. Haha... My son had the sausage kolache and he said it's really good! Will eat the rest tomorrow morning. I'm sure they are delicious, too!

Bought 2 dozen today at Kolache Festival in Caldwell, TX. They were prefect. Definitely will return.

This was my first time at Gerik's and my husband's second time... he had visited once before when passing through West, TX at the recommendation of a coworker and raved about the kolaches so we had to try it together. This will be a must-stop for us any time we are passing through the area! We traveled to the Czech Republic a few months ago and Gerik's is even better than some of the kolaches we had there! Cookies & Cream Cinnamon Roll (9/10) - WOW! I think this was the biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen in my life! Massive is an understatement but once you start eating it, you're happy it's so big because it's delicious! There's cookie pieces and the icing throughout the roll in addition to the topping so every bite has that cookies and cream flavor. We heated it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds and really enjoyed eating it slightly warm. Ground Sausage and Jalapeño Klobasnek (8/10) - I think they accidentally gave us a plain ground sausage instead of the ground sausage and jalapeño because we never tasted any jalapeño but it was delicious nonetheless! The dough is so soft and has the perfect texture. The ground sausage filled the entire roll and you got some in every bite! Blueberry and Cream Cheese Kolache (9/10) - FANTASTIC! Again, the dough is perfection and the cream cheese paired so well with the blueberry. The crumble on top added a nice texture element and additional sweetness. I think I said "mmm" with every bite I took! Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie (8/10) - I didn't take a picture but this cookie was also massive and delicious! There were SO many chocolate chips throughout the cookie and it was nice and soft. The chocolate chips were melting as soon as I touched the cookie so if it's hot, you will want to eat it quickly! They were busy and didn't have many staff members working so there was a little bit of a wait but it was WELL worth it! Super affordable too! We will recommend Gerik's to anyone passing through West, TX!

We’re traveling to Fort Worth, and we’re “taste testing” Kolaches. We tried a local bakery and were disappointed. We saw Oak Street and got the sausage & cheese, and it was delicious. Definitely going back there.

I don't enjoy giving disappointing reviews but in this case it can't be avoided. I went in to the bakery to try my first kolache. I explained that I was from CA and this would my first time trying a kolache. She asked where in CA I was from and I said L.A. to which she replied, "Oh. Sorry." I was stunned. I tried to make small talk but she kept talking about how much her friend didn't like L.A. so I gave up and just paid for my kolache. As I was leaving she said, "I didn't mean to offend you." I tried to shrug it off because unlike her, I know how to be polite. You would think that in this day and age, a small business would know that customer service means a lot.
