Food was good as usual however the staff needs a big adjustment! Our waitress didn't really care to be there, and was rude when taking our order.

Pretty disappointing experience. Menu is mediocre, service was extremely slow even though it wasn't busy. Ended up not ordering and went to El Tapatio. Would not recommend.

We stop through on our way home to San Angelo Tex. I Love to watch the interaction between wait staff, open kitchen, and management. They work seamlessly together. I worked for El Chico as my 1st job and by far they still follow the recipes. Been to others and they dont serve the relish and corn tortillas. Or plating

I got the chili rellano and it wasn't very good. Not a traditional taste to it.

It's been a long time since I've been to El Chico. The food was pretty good. Not the best and not the worst TexMex I've had. Our waiter was friendly and did an ok job of keeping up with our chips and drinks. It was nothing special but also nothing that would keep me from trying it again.

We love the Tuesday night special which are Fajitas for two for $20. That includes rice and beans and of couese their delicioso tortilla chips and salsa and queso dip.

I met my daughter there for a late lunch. The food wasn't up to it's usual par. Our favorite go-to is the tortilla soup. It wasn't as thick as it used to be, as if it had been watered down, and the avocados had black spots on them. The one saving grace, beyond getting to spend time with my daughter, was the waitstaff. They were hilarious and friendly and more than made up for the sub par soup.Parking: Plenty of parking at the end of a shopping center.

Haven't been to an El Chico in years. They are all gone from side of Texas. Good food, nice atmosphere, but waiter (as nice and courteous as he was) was slow to take drinks orders, even slower on food order, and just generally running around haggardly

UPDATE:On July 4th, we went in for lunch. It was not too busy. Seated immediately, chips and sauces brought out pretty fast. Waiter took our drink order and waited 10 minutes before bringing to table. He took our order 20 minutes to get an appetizer. It was on counter. It was warm, not hot. Main dishes didn't get to the table for another 20 minutes. Arrived warm, not hot. My husband got up twice to get me some tea. He actually went to cleaning tables after I had asked him for some tea.I will never want that waiter again. We will always ask for Stephanie and wait until she has a tableEnchilada Wednesday. Food was hot and delicious. Our waitress, Stephanie, always gives top-notch service.

Went to eat at El-Chico with my nephew and my mom, sat there for 20 without anyone taking our order. So we decide to pay for drinks and find another restaurant with better service. Asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave and one of the waitresses said “oh where were you sitting, I would have served you?” I pointed to the table where were sitting and said “right there where you’ve walked by us 6 times now. I ended up leaving and the manager came out and was extremely rude to my mom saying we had only been there for 15 min (as if somehow that was acceptable service if it were true). She stated that had they been more busy it would have understandable at least to a point, but there were maybe 8 tables being served……..maybe! The manager retorted with ohh we’re not busy (as if to imply that they were), and stated that he was so glad that she knew the ins and outs of the restraint business! I may not run a restaurant but I’ve patronized enough in 46 years to know when a restaurant is busy and when it s not! At any rate, nobody in my family will ever step foot back in el-Chico cafe on kemp and SW Parkway with that kind of bad service and unprofessional conduct from its staff and manager!! The best move this restaurant can make is change your leadership because this type of management is toxic and cancerous, and that’s being nice about it!!!! Texas Roadhouse for the Win!!!!

Excellent service! Great food, pretty good margaritas. Clean restaurant, the AC was struggling with the heat. Apparently the fajitas are pretty popular, because that's what everyone was having. Don't think twice about this place; it's worth it.

Everyone was doing their best. But they were short staffed and a little rattled. Food was good. Service was OK for being short on servers.
