Me and my husband have loved Del Mar and its affordability and deliciousness. Perfect for a date night. But unfortunately this last time we went we got a vicious case of food poisoning. Sadly, neither of us will be returning. There needs to be a better quality check!

Very good, better than I expected even with 4.7 stars. The free chips and salsa are the best I've had at a restaurant like this. We got the shrimp Baja tacos and the ceviche tostada with fish. The shrimp tacos were the best I had. I also liked the beans. The rice was average. The ceviche was less fish forward, but was still good. We went for an early dinner so it was empty. The building interior is nice.A little pricey, but good value.

Overall, the food was pretty good but the service was very poor. We ordered nachos as an appetizer to go along with our entrées. We waited what seemed like a very long time for the appetizer to come out. When it did, the cheese on top of the nachos was melted but cold and seemed like it had been sitting for quite a while. The rest of our food showed up about one minute later. My guess is that our server wasn't paying attention when the nachos were ready and they probably sat under a heat lamp for a long time before they were brought to us. When we asked about it, our server just offered to bring us a to-go box if we wanted to take the nachos home with us instead of eat them. That was one of the strangest responses that I can imagine to a situation like that.Even though the food was generally pretty good, I don't know that we will go back because of the service. I'm not sure that management cares based on what I've read in several other reviews. This restaurant seems like it might be better off if you ordered at the counter, took a number, and they brought your food out to you when it was ready.

Del Mar replaced arugably the best Mexican restaurant in UT county (and maybe all of UT, random half-Mexican-guy opinion), but this place is still pretty good.My wife got the shrimp tacos and I got the birria tacos. My tacos were SO good. I've had really good birria tacos (homemade and restaurant ones) and these were surpisingly one of the best I've ever had. It had like 3 sauces to dip it in, and one of them was a little bowl of tasty birria. My only gripe was the location seemed stripped of most of the decorations from its predocessor (which I've been told is owned by the same owners, and is the same theme, Mexican) and the 2 person table we were seated at was really small, even for 2.But again, the food is pretty good and the service was good.
My new favorite restaurant! The quesadilla birria is delicious. The shrimp tacos, fish tacos, and street tacos are all great (and cheap on Tuesday).Edit: Dropping my review to 4 stars. They have changed the format and unfortunately it takes too long so I am usually not able to eat here for lunch anymore. Before, you would order immediately at the counter and sit down. Now you have to wait to be seated, wait for the server to take your order, then wait for your food and check. Please change the format back! The food is still amazing though.

Food and service was excellent. We had the Birria three cheese tacos and the Asada and shrimp burrito. Both were excellent. The chips and salsa was probably the best we’ve had in Utah. The service from Bailey was exceptional. She was highly attentive, friendly, and constantly had a big smile on her face. Recommended.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Utah. Great food, friendly staff.

I have only been once, but spouse twice. I enjoyed my meal and the service was great (Valentine's Day for lunch). Ordered whole Tilapia and Shrimp appetizer. It wasn't life changing, but it was good. Will probably try something else next time. I want to give 4.5 but will round up because 4 isn't right. Liked it, but not blown away. :) Thanks for the friendly service. In previous visit, tacos were really good. Might be the better way to go here.
Bailey was an amazing server, I got the Quesa Birria Plate & my other half got the Carne Asada Plate. Perfect lunch spot for some yummy tacos!! The chips & salsa are so good as well!

I absolutely LOVE the food at Del Mar! There fish and chips taste just like the ones we had in La Paz México, Fresh, crispy and fabulous tarter sauce! I am a tarter snob. The salsa is some of my favorite around, chunky and flavorful. Also, the 3Birria taco plate is delicious, great sauces and must try.We also ordered the Asada and Shrimp Burrito, this was excellent! If you have not tried Del Mar definitely make a point to do so soon!My only con-it was a little chilly inside.Kid-friendliness: They have kids menu.

I’m surprised this place is always dead, at least when we drive by it always looks empty even when it says they’re open. Yesterday we took the chance and went in for dinner and it did not disappoint. Best birria tacos I’ve had in Utah ??definitely coming back!!
