Some of the best sushi utah has to offer. I personally think it’s better than Tsunami. The fish is fresh. They don’t over do it on the rice. The portions of fish is generous.

Very delicious high end sushi here at reasonable prices. Very impressed by the nigiri style sushi here as the fish was excellent quality. I had Blue Fin Tuna, Yellowtail, and Sea Bream and they were all very delicious! I would say it’s better than Itto Sushi for the sushi quality level. Very happy to finally try the food here and will be back for sure

Food was good, but nothing too special. Definitely on the pricier end. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes to an hour after ordering for food to arrive.

This place is great! We stopped here the day I moved to Salt Lake City and LOVED it. The place is clean, staff are so friendly, service was awesome, and the food was amazing. Try the Sunset role when you go. Thanks for an awesome first dinner in SLC!

Neat little sushi spot. I went for lunch. Got the bento box with 3 options. Chicken teriyaki, spicy tuna roll, and sashimi. Sashimi was large pieces and tasted fresh. Tuna roll was good and chicken was good. Server took time to explain to me what was what. I also ordered the eel and tempura roll. Very good and again, generous portion of fish.Everything was good and prices were fair.

Delicious sushi and pleasant atmosphere. The hot sake was good as well. Would recommend. Small place without much seating. Good spot for a date!

Here is my take after visiting Ika Sushi in Midvale for a second time, to ensure consistency. This place stands out not only for its diverse selection of authentic Japanese items but also for its impeccable execution and service. While Takashi remains my favorite, Ika Sushi emerges as a top choice for anyone seeking the same high quality without the inconvenience of downtown parking fees and the lengthy waits for a table. The absence of Junmai Daiginjo sake (known for its extra filtration and crispness) on the menu was swiftly addressed as they sourced a comparable from their special stock upon request. Our meal began with perfectly shucked Kumamoto oysters accompanied by a unique and delicious ginger mignonette, followed by smoky shishito peppers and shrimp tempura with a light, crisp batter. The specials for the evening included live scallop, Shima Aji (striped jack), A-5 Wagyu, and Monk liver, all of which were exceptionally fresh and remarkable. The fish was cut to perfection and the sushi rice was seasoned well but still delicate. I cannot wait to go back!

We had an amazing time at Ika Sushi.TG (The owner) was the nicest guy ever! We had a lot of good convo with him about fishing, Mongolia and the unique types of fishes he provides at his restaurant!TG was very welcoming and friendly. He made the experience top knotch by helping us understand what kind of fish to try and by even customizing the hand rolls to what he said would be the way he would eat them to get the most flavor and enjoyment! (I highly recommend asking to have the hand rolls made the way he likes them, give him the freedom to impress you because he does not disappoint!!!)Everything was FRESH and all the fish were very enjoyable as far as taste and texture. They do not give you tons of rice to just fill you up! They actually want you to enjoy the unique taste of every individual fish and everything they top the fish with is super unique! Very different from any sushi place I have ever been to!The artwork is beautiful, TG painted the fish you see as you walk in that circle the name IKA.Last but not least, the dessert was AMAZING‼️You HAVE to try the purple yam ice cream‼️ You will not find that kind of flavor ANYWHERE else‼️ It was sooooo smooth and creamy and definitely something unique that you can try that is unlike any dessert you will ever try anywhere else‼️All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this spot for a great night out.The service, friendliness and food does not compare to conventional sushi restaurants anywhere in Utah‼️Thank you Ika Sushi crew‼️10/10‼️Parking: Parking was extremely easy, no problems at all which is convenient!

WOW WOW WOW is all I have to say! (Just kidding, I have a lot more than that as I always do, hahaha). In a singular visit, this has easily become one of my favorite sushi places in the Salt Lake valley. I have been wanting to try Ika sushi for a while now and finally had the opportunity to do so last week. From the outside, it is very unassuming and tucked away within the Riverwalk Shopping Center. The interior of the restaurant is not huge, so while my friends and I were over the course of our for dinner, it filled fairly quickly. I have visited multiple restaurants that were in this specific storefront location that haven't stayed (a poke place, teriyaki, and more), and I HOPE so badly that Ika thrives here because the quality of their sushi was exceptional. One of my friends ordered the Brussel Sprouts which I had the opportunity to try a bite of. To be honest, my first instinct in a sushi place would not be to order Brussel sprouts, but I am so glad my friend did! They are cooked in a citrus white miso sauce and that flavor of the sauce absolutely transforms this dish! Very flavorful!Moving to the sushi, I ordered some Hamachi nigiri and based on my research from other reviews, I really wanted to try out the Twist & Shout roll. When I tell you that the Hamachi nigiri had one of the best quality pieces of raw fish I have ever had, I mean it! Beyond the flavor alone, biting into this piece of Hamachi and through to the rice was like slicing through a soft stick of butter - the texture was perfect! I was almost shocked. To continue to on to the Twist & Shout roll, I cannot express enough that this roll is a MUST try. If you are like me and love a good spicy sushi roll, and this one has the perfect balance of spice. With the chili oil and fresh jalapenos, you have such a nice level of heat that balances so well with the rest of the roll. Also, the addition of the garlic chips adds a nice crunch to each bite without it taking away from the overall texture of the sushi. To end my review, I ask one thing from people who live in this area - please help Ika do well and visit! It is so refreshing to find restaurants in this area that aren't part of a chain, and I want it to succeed so I can keep coming here and not have to go downtown for great sushi!
